Extenders, do the 1600's need them?

I've still got a set of unused extenders from Snake (RIP) on VROC, from back when I had a 1500. I haven't heard any talk of them on the 1600's.

Do higher mileage 1600's need them, or did they find a way to not have the chains stretch so much?

Dan, What extenders, what chains????? The only chains on my 1500 are timing chains and they have automatic tensioners.

I have not heard of anyone yet needing the extenders for the cam chains on a 1600.

How many miles did the 1500s go before people replaced them ? I've got 37K on my 05 without any problems yet.

I put cam chain extenders in mine at about 30,000 miles. YMMV

Oldbiker, the automatic tensioners on the 1500's run out of adjustment clicks and the chains keep stretching to the point where they will buzz saw a trench through the spark plug tube. The extenders are a shim of sorts to gain more adjustment out of the tensioners.

My wife Liz, has 56,000+ miles on her 04 Nomad and we have not installed the cam chain extensions. No noise yet.
