Looking for a Touring Bike,, But NOT a Harley
I currently have a 2000 Nomad Fi 1500cc im thinking of selling.
Im wanting to find a touring bike.... but not a Harley. Does anyone here have any idea! I wish Kawasaki made one like the harley with fairing and trunk.... instead of having to add the options to a Kaw. to get it there...! I saw the New Yamaha Ventures they are nice.... Any idea, what kind of price I would ask for a 2000 Nomad Fi 1500cc with 28000 miles on it. I just got back yesterday (Monday) from a 2552 mile ride to New Mexico and back to IL. The bike is loaded with Sky Fi3 2" speakers, amp. New front and back tires..... Why not throw a Fairing / Lowers & Trunk on it? Your not going to gain alot by buying a Wing / New Venture or Beemer! They are all good bikes but you already have a good reliable scooter and just need to Luxo-tour it! IMHO only.

The old Connie was a match for what you want. The new one is more sport than touring. Take a long look at the COG site before buying one. Very poor passenger accommodations, marginal mileage (high 30's) expensive maintenance/ valves, but apparently goes like a bat out of hell. I had a C10 before my Nomad and was watching when the C14 was released. After sitting on one and reading their comments, I have lost interest. I've put 27,000 miles on my Nomad in 14 months, all kinds of weather and days up to 900 miles. Far as I'm concerned, it is as good for touring as they come.

Scott last fall I added the newer ABS Harley fairing without the inner section. It is not as heavy as the old fiberglass ones. I barely know it is on there. Not much different than the windshield. I have a second one I am working on for Liz's Nomad. Also a Scootworks trunk is lighter than the Harley's and is pretty good quality. Just looking for ways to keep you on a Nomad.

Beemers have a really nice touring bike if you have deep pockets.

If your riding 2 up, a newer Nomad. If one rider you have to think about distances money and needs. FJR, st1300, Kawasaki concours, Moto guzi, BMW,. They all make pretty good bikes. Sit on them, ride them if you can and read reviews. and weigh the options, maintenance and $.
