New (longtime) member, Kenosha WI
Just returned on Friday from a journey just over 1100 miles and 6 years. My original forum intro was in 2007 when I first fell in lust with the Nomad. Now all these years later I finally purchased my bike. I had come close many times with both forum members and dealers but it just never was the right timing for me. No fault to the members I communicated with there was always one thing or another that got in the way.
Wednesday I flew to Houston Texas to finalize the purchase of a 2009 black 1700. It was dirtier than I expected from a dealer but at only $7200 with only 7500 miles (now almost 9000), I pulled the trigger. It has cobra scalloped tip slip on exhaust (I hope that does not mean tc is going to be hating on me), footrests on the engine guards (minor corrosion on the footrests), a shark stereo system (not sure I'm going to keep the radio or not), engine LEDs, probably some fuel management as well. I hope to reach out to the prior owner to find out if there is anything else I missed. It needed a real good cleaning and the stock mirrors are also corroded and need replacing. After getting home and cleaning her up I am more and more pleased with the bike. Anybody getting rid of their stock mirrors and want to throw me a bone, just let me know. Congrats on the new bike and welcome again. When I first started reading your post I thought it took you 6 years to travel 1100 miles and man that's a slow bike.

Welcome back "stewart". Like Norm, I too quickly thought it took 6 yrs. to travel the 1100 miles. But I thought,......maybe you had a drinking or substance abuse issue and it just took that long to go that distance.
Glad for you that isn't the case. Congrats on the "new to you".....I'm going to guess because you didn't really say,....... Nomad.

Well, to be fair, all we have to do is look real hard at our black bikes and they look dirty!
