Waving Where Do I Go for Harley Bashing?

Calm down...I kid, I kid. I grew up as a shy introverted kid with bad cowlicks so I had to do something to get people's attention.

Greetings from Memphis, TN. I currently ride a Suzuki Volusia...love the bike but being that it's the 3rd one I've owned, and my wife recently said those magical words ("I'm leaving"....just kidding...."I wanna ride with you") so I'm thinking that before it's all over with I'm gonna want something bigger. And I've always liked the Nomad (and it's oft-discussed over at volusiariders.com) so I think it's safe to say I'll give them a good look when the time comes. Throw in the fact that I'm as analytical as it comes and wanna do some extensive homework....voila, here I am.

I probably know a handful of you from over there...jendesigner frequently refers to this board. Oh crap, Jen...I'm SOOO sorry....did I say too much? I hope you don't lose your membership privileges for hanging out over there...I mean, dropping by every now and then (like once a year, tops....I swear).

Anyhow....a little about me. Didn't grow up on bikes or anything....started riding at the ripe old age of 33 by taking the MSF class (freakin U-turn box is of Satan). Married 10 yrs....have 2 kids, age 7 1/2 (just finishing 1st grade) and 5 (about to start kindergarten). Oldest recently got on the bike for the first time and he thinks it's the coolest thing ever. Let's hope it stays that way. I'm a huge Tennessee Titans fan and this year will be my first as a season ticket holder. Also love our local Memphis Grizzlies who you might've heard about on your evening sports news segment recently.

Love me some Memphis BBQ and before you even ask...no, I've never been to Graceland. And I don't rally hate Harleys. They make a great bike. For a T-shirt company.

Welcome aboard from a former Nomad and C50T owner. I spent several months near your fine city about 35 years ago when I was stationed at NAS Millington while in the Marines. I have wanted to get back to Memphis ever since, but haven't quite made it yet. I have some unfinished BBQ to take care of back there.

Well, TNrookie if you buy a 1500 I have some extra parts I can sell you. Right now I have a 50% chance to make it to the BrVR in a few weeks, if I do and your there your more then welcome to test ride my bike—ah, then again, there is one road I won't let you ride :-)

I say keep the VOL and maybe your wife can ride that one. I love having both.

I know Millington quite well....the Navy base golf course is now semi-private (military still gets premium tee times and discounts), and I was on base a few weeks ago DJing a Cadet Ball for Millington High ROTC program. The Lt Commander can really cut a rug..

Well Jen it looks like I won't be at the BrVR....Boss pulled a Lumbergh a few weeks ago and said, "Yeah...we're gonna need you to work that Saturday..." and didn't give me much choice. I'm gonna try like heck to make it to the Fall one....but right now the Spring one doesn't seem to be in the cards, much to my chagrin.

The Nomad is a great bike and I am sure you will enjoy riding one.
As for Jen, how could you cheat on us VulcanBaggers? Oh wait, I have a Victory, sorry.

If you only knew. He basically said, "Plan on being here for part of the 1st 3 weekends in June. Sorry." Ugh. Happy Father's Day to me!!
