DMY Trunk

I just received my trunk from http://www.a1hardbags.com/motorcycle...nks/cat_5.html
Of coarse the brackets are a universal type which means that they don't fit anything, not a big problem I can make something more appropriate if I have to.
What I was wondering is if anyone here has put this trunk on your Nomad and if there were any tips or suggestions regarding the install.
Thanks Jim

Looks like a nice trunk. Once you get it installed be sure to include pictures.

I had a Mutazu DMY trunk on my 2007 until I replaced it with a larger HD tourpak clone. I mounted it on a Wompus rack. You need a good stable mount for the trunk, especially if your better half is going to be using it as a backrest. It wouldn't be good to have it fail and have to cut your ride short to turn around and fetch momma from the middle of the street.

The trunk came painted and I was impressed with the color match there was a scratch in the gelcoat that never got taken out before paint, I am ok with that but I am sure it would drive someone else nuts, I had problems getting the latch open but after opening and closing it a few times it seems to work ok.
I am sure my wife will have a problem with how firm the foam is in the backrest pads and I will likely have to get someone to put foam that is less dense in them and recover them again.
mounting was a snap on my already existing rack there was some confusion with the supplied brackets but I found out they were a universal bracket (fits nothing) that was included in case you did not have a rack already.
All in all for the price I am happy with the trunk mostly for the fact that it color matched my bike perfectly it looks good on there (pics later) and I had it bolted on in a half our this morning.

On to the batwing next.

Like you'd expect from a $100 trunk. Plastic hinges, flimsy latch that breaks easily. I had to replace mine. For what you pay for them, they aren't bad. Just don't expect a whole lot. They are serviceable trunks, and the least expensive way to put a hard trunk on a motorcycle.

I too have one on my '07, sitting on a Wompus rack. It came close to the same red as my bike colour and with a top rack as well. You get what you pay for and the first thing I did was re do the back rests for the wife. They are styrofoam with a little foam cover, so I had the whole item replace with a nice foam on the top and bottom sections, plus built out the top section to make it more of a horse shoe style. Pics coming soon.

I bought one off Ebay and got it yesterday. Got the DMY trunk, wrap around bacrest and the new style rack for $165 plus shipping. Put it on the Wompus rack I bought last week. $220 delivered. Like they said, you get what you pay for. We don't put on a lot of miles, so I think it will be fine until I can get $1000 for a Harley clone.

I just love the trike conversion Ken, it looks great. Is that your work or how did you manage that?

Thanks for the comment. This is a Tow-Pac trike kit. I had it put on because of getting older, knees, etc. Also this is a big bike for me, especially with my wife riding. Costs about $4200 for the kit.

When I mounted mine I put a plate inside the trunk to sandwich the trunk between the mounting plate or rack) and the plate I put on the inside. This does make the trunk much more stable.
