Our FIRST Year Doing Rolling Thunder!

Usually hubby has to work on the Memorial Day weekend, but this year he took leave! He has ALWAYS wanted to go to Rolling Thunder in Washington, D.C., the Ride For The Wall. We called some friends that go every year and tagged along with them. Since they go every year, they KNOW how to do it!! They set up a tent, we all brought our chairs, they brought coolers of sub sandwiches, fried chicken, chips, fruit, donuts, sodas and water! The wait in the Pentagon parking lot was more like a tailgate party for us! LOL!

Although we enjoyed or time with friends, we did NOT forget the reason we were all gathered there. I have NEVER seen so many bikes together at one time! Last I heard, they estimated about half a million bikes this year. It was such an emotional experience for Chaz and I!!!

One of our friends with us, Debbie, shared some of her pictures with me to add in my picture show. This was very emotional for me to make. I grew up a Navy brat, my brother served some time during Viet Nam and Chaz served time overseas in Desert Storm. I think I was able to show that we had a good time together, but were there for a VERY important cause.

As usual, another fine piece of work CheriAnn. And as Al stated, a great selection of music. Attenting this event had to be an awesome and moving experience. I attached a sticky to keep this thread where it won't be missed. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Our FIRST Year Doing Rolling Thunder!

This was without a doubt, the most moving event I have ever been to. I am one of the fortunate ones who did not lose any relatives when I was a boy in Viet Nam. I had an uncle who served as a gunner on a helicopter. He has a cigar box full of metals to show his bravery and valor. But, like so many before him, he will tell you that he was just doing his job. My own father who was flagged as 4F for service duty, served with the Merchant Marines. I am also fortunate to say I served for my Country in Desert Storm.
This was an emotional event for me. To see how many actually support our cause. It towers over those who say we are weak. This country will stand with pride against any who try to say we are weak.

Cheri and Spazz,

I have seen many pictures of that before. I would love to do that someday. Remembering those that have served is always important.

Our FIRST Year Doing Rolling Thunder!

That was a fantastic video of pictures you put together, I really enjoyed it, I almost felt like I was there myself. And the choice of music was really fitting as well.
My neighbour usually goes down to Rolling Thunder and says it is a very emotional ride, oneday I hope to make the trip myself.
Thanks for a great job.

Our FIRST Year Doing Rolling Thunder!

I've never had the opportunity to attend Rolling Thunder. Your video made me feel like I was almost there. I've been to the Wall several times over the years. Each time it makes me cry. There are tears in my eyes even as I type this.

If our country ever forgets the sacrifices that our people have made then the country will truly be lost. I pray that day will never come. As long as we have people like those I saw in your video I believe that will never happen.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
