Air Filter

I have a hyper charger on my 02 Nomad and it needs an air filter in a bad way. I guess the previous owner didn't think to ever check/clean it. Any ideas where I can find a relatively cheap air filter to fit? The autoparts stores were worthless as usual!

The best bet in the long run is a K&N Filter. It costs initially more, however it will last forever and supply more air to the engine. Just my 2 cents worth.

Are you saying they replaced the K&N filter that came with the HC with a paper one and it's really filthy? If it has the K&N filter then all you need is a recharge kit for it available at most auto parts stores or even Wally World I think has them. K&N filters will run 100000 miles EASY so can't think if there is one in it now that it needs to be replaced, just cleaned and relubed.

I have one just installed on mine and I'm planning on giving it a good clean and lube soon.

If you have the K&N now and think it's not worth it and you just want a new one ??? then take it with you to parts store and match up the size with one comparable there in size.

Good luck...let us know how you make out.

A hypercharger? Which one? A filter? What shape, how big, how thick?

the HC resembles a Kuryakyn but its not a perfect match. I couldn't fine any manufacturer's info on the HC itself...weird! The filter is a 6" X 1.75" round.

Air Filter

The filter type should be easy to match up with the fact it's round, in most any car parts stores. if you have Pep Boys, VIP, and Auto Zone it will be easy.

If it is a K&N filter, all it should need is a good cleaning and be re-oiled. Just follow the instructions on the recharge kit. Also if it's a K&N, the part # is molded into the rubber seal on ore or both ends.

Got a picture of the filter? Is it a mesh of interwoven material maybe a little like steel wool, or is it paper, maybe cloth which sort of looks like paper?

Air Filter

After cleaning the filter... with an old tooth brush and a K&N recharge kit... I have found that it is a KN filter! WOW was that thing dirty! So gunked up I couldn't see any numbers for manufacturer. Well it appears to be in good working order. I threw on a $9 jobby from the auto parts store just to get the bike running while I worked on the older filter!

Glad you got it figured out. Isn't it amazing how some people neglect things??

I would have to agree, especially if buying a bike from someone else and finding out they neglected a key part of it's running like the filter. Since it is one thing that is easy to do, makes you wonder what else was left? I'd think you'll be going over the entire bike now from stem to stern for piece of mind.
Glad it was the K&N for you and just needed that good cleaning you did. Where did you get your kit from? I've looked around my area and can't find the K&N recharge kit only the other one? ( ???) one which is what I use on my car.

Anyway it will run much better now!!!!
