Why in the hell is a motorcycle so hard to see?
This happens way too often.

They are only hard to see when the driver isn't paying attention, Dave. I'm sure these young drivers have no problem reading a text message while driving.

that's exactly what's happening. I never go through intersections without my hand and foot covering the brakes trailing throttle. I've had it happen too many times!

If I see someone in a left-turn lane, I've gotten into the habit of flipping the hi-beam on about twenty yards out - something changed, hopefully they noticed. If they are creeping up, I lay on the air horn - and all the time foot and hand readied for an emergency stop. And if I see those tires already turned, I start braking until I KNOW they see me! I would rather be annoying and paranoid than splattered.

It really does come down to paying attention to your own situation...
Around here (and elsewhere) I see motorcyclists riding dangerously all the time... and I don't mean fast or anything. More like... riding too close behind cars, riding down a street without consideration to the side-streets, and rolling through busy intersections in the wrong position for others to see them (while clearly not covering their brakes). The list goes on and on... you guys have seen it too. I truly believe if we could see actual films of some of these accidents we would find the motorcyclists partly to blame by having poor habits. Having said that... riding is inherently dangerous though, especially with teenagers texting.

Visibility is very important, that's why I went with 50 watt driving lights mounted on the middle of the crash bar. It's different and gets attension, the wide low triangle of light (head light and two low driving lights) makes people look twice, IMHO.

I don't flash it, I leave it on high beam. After I clear the intersection, I'll drop it back to low.

Are you talking day time or night time? I was taught to ride with the high beam on 100% of the time in the daylight. To see the difference in visibility, have a buddy ride a ways back behind you with first the low beam for a while and then the high beam for a while. You will be surprised and it won't bother anybody in daylight.

I thought you couldn't remove the posts because you couldn't find the "DELEATE" button.
