NEVERMIND 68,000 miles/ first problem

Yup, I had my first problem with the Nomad today.
Left home and rode to gas station, shut bike down, got gas,hit starter button and SNAP was what I heard. After that, no power.
Checked everything I could think of, tried again, SNAP was what I heard again.
Cindy and I pushed bike two blocks to my sisters house and I jumped it with her car. No her car was not running. Bike started but quit as soon as I took the jumper off the terminal.
Road side assistance and the bike is now in Utica at the dealers.
From these symptoms they seem to think voltage regulator.
Just wondered what you guys think.
I just told Cindy 3 days ago that my bike was running so good it scared me. :-/

How old is the battery Tim? Could be anything from a loose wire to who knows what. Your battery sounds like it may have gone south. If you jumped it off and it started then died when you took the jumper cables off, it just seems like the battery. Maybe someone will give you a better idea of the problem.

I'm impressed with your problem free 68000 miles. " knock on wood " we do the same here as well,it usually works. I hope nothing serious with your bike, good luck.

Good thing your sister was gracious enough to have moved so close to the breakdown site.

btw, I pushed a Vulcan Classic for about a half mile once. We don't ride featherweights, do we TC?

Thats a tougher one to diagnose without looking at the bike, but its quite possible its the rectifier/regulator or the stator.
You should have walked to your sisters house and returned with the car rather than push the bike there. ;)

Ring after they pushed the bike there I bet they thought, we should have walked and drove back.

TC, how long did you leave the jumper cables on? The reason I ask is you could have a shorted battery even though it'
s only a year old. I left my key on, turned off the bike with the kill switch, a couple months ago and killed the battery. Buddy came with a jump pack and the bike would start but as soon as I disconnected the jump pack it would die. Nomads, at least mine, will not run with a dead battery even after jumping. We left the jump pack on for 5 minutes after starting then took it off and no more problems.
