IBA / SS1000 attempt

Going to try and hit the 1000 mile mark on June 18. There are 4 or 5 of us that are going to attempt the SS1000.

Our plan is to leave Tulsa at 4am on the 18th... travel North-East on Interstate 44 to St. Louis... connect to Interstate 55 South to Memphis... on to Interstate 40 West to the Muskogee Turnpike in eastern Oklahoma and take it back to Tulsa.

My google map is showing 1,046 miles and approximately 18 hrs. (travel time, not w/ stops). This is including the "planned" gas stops, which vary from 105 - 135 miles apart. I'm sure these stops will change during the route. We are thinking we can get it done in about 20 hrs and be able to return home by midnight. We will have a chase vehicle with us with tools, trailer, and supplies.

If anyone would like to join us or give some advice, feel free. Or you can just give us your good luck remarks.

Sounds like you guys are well prepared!

I did one two years ago and to be honest with you, it's not too bad. You guys will do just fine.

Here is a write-up on my experience. http://utahmotorcyclist.blogspot.com...ay-4-2009.html

Have fun and ride safe. Watch out for those saddle sores.

Stay hydrated and know when to call it a day if necessary. I've done 3 SS1000's and my last one is on my blog. Remember, have fun doing it.

Thanks Mo. It was an adventure for sure. The first two were rather uneventful, the last one...not so much ;)

IBA / SS1000 attempt

Well, I'm sad to say that my IBA ride got cancelled on Monday. There was supposed to be anywhere from 3-6 of us going, but everyone backed out on me. Tried to talk one of the guys into it, but he wasn't interested if there wasn't a group of us. So, I got left all alone and I've decided not to attempt it by myself. :( Hopefully, I'll have another opportunity some time in the future.
