Keep your guard up!!!

225 miles with Netnorske today and less than 8 miles from home on the road I drive twice a day, 5 days a week this gal decides to pull out in front of me. I think all that stopped her was the fact she heard the screeching of my rear tire as I had a brief fit of panic and locked up my rear tire for an instant. She looked mighty shocked as tried to figure out where I came from.

Never let down your guard!!!!!!

Always the most dangerous the closer we get to home. Glad you came out of it okay. Careful on locking up that rear tire, though. You could have high sided and that would not have been a good thing. We've had bike week down here and there have been accidents every day. Again, good thing you didn't get hurt.

Seems like it often happens in an area close to home or that we're familiar with. One can never get too comfortable.

Glad to hear you made it home safe. Just goes to show the only safe cage is a parked and empty one. Early in the riding season they are even less aware of us after having the winter to forget.

While we are at it, a good time to remind everyone about the sand an gravel left on the roads from over the winter. Be careful in those corners.

Wise advice Charlie. While riding, I always assume other drives do not see me. It helps. Glad you came through that one unscathed.

Glad you made it through it ok. I've only been riding a little over a month and have had probably 6 or 8 cars or trucks pull out in front of me.. I assume every vehicle out there is there to wreck me or run over me.. So I start to slow a little and cover my front brakes just in case. I believable in Defensive driving.. But the funny thing is, most of them are looking straight at me and still pull out. Makes ya just want to pull 'em over and choke 'em....Anybody ever have a fit of road rage on their bike? Jamie

The mandates to survive are "Ride like you are invisible and assume that everyone will violate your right of way." None of us will live to be old riders if we don't follow those 2 rules. What am I saying, some of us are already old.....

Glad you came out of it OK.
My Father laid his Ultra Classic down a couple of weeks ago because someone did something he didn't think they were going to do.They stopped in front of him and he didn't have time to brake.Ended up laying it down and sliding through the intersection. No major injuries, just skinned up,but did $7000 in damage to the bike. He was only a few minutes from home and only going for a short ride. He now understands why I ask him to "dress for the wreck, not for the ride". You just never know.

Keep your guard up!!!

Early this week I was traveling down Hwy 99 north of Lynnwood, following some slow traffic. I considered changing lanes to the right and speeding up, but a little voice in my head told me not to.

The situation is impossible to describe, just know that had I done what I was thinking about doing...a collision would surely have ensued as a car came across two lanes from nowhere to occupy the same space I would have been in. He would never have even seen me because of the van that was between us.

My point is....listen to that little voice of caution.....it just might save your life.

Kris, I hate riding multi-lane interstates. When I do, I try to remain in the inside or outside lanes so I don't have to be paranoid about what's on both sides of me about to invade my space. Sometimes it's impossible but I try to avoid multi-lane highways as much as possible.

Look it up most accidents happen after 6 minutes of starting out, that means after any stop!Something to think about?
