First ride of the year today

...well, the weather has improved considerably so I decided to licence the Nomad today. Although the roads are not completely free of rocks, it was a real thrill to finally be back on the bike again. It was also the first ride with the newly installed fairing and trunk and I am pleased with how the bike looks and handles with the newly added weight. The cruise control worked great and am real happy to have it on. I am also very pleased with how the clutch worked. It feels like a very positive hookup and the lever engagemment is much better this year after installing the meanie spring and Judges washers. All in all, I'm very satisfied with its performance and looks. Man, I love this bike!!! :) :)

First ride of the year today

Just a few more days for me. Need a few warm days to get rid of the last snow and ice buildup on my driveway.

Great looking ride.

Congrats! Nothing like that first ride of the season! I had a goal of April 1 for my first ride of 09, but Mother Nature didn't like that plan. If the forecast holds, the Nomad should be coming out of hibernation next week, as highs are supposed to be in the 50s.
Your bike looks great!

The bike looks great. I'm getting ready to put a fairing on the first part of May. Is there a big difference in the way the bike handles with the fairing?

With as little miles you put on your bike BD you should get that first ride feeling every time you ride. ;)

First ride of the year today

Thanks for all the nice compliments guys. I'm real happy with how its turned out.

....meat
While riding today I set the cruise about 65mph indicated and took my hands of the bars to see how it reacted with the fairing on. It took just several seconds before it started a bit of a wobble so I'm not sure why its doing that but assume the fairing is the cause. It did not do that with the regular shield so I am scrathing my head a bit. I know, "what to hell are you doing taking your hands off the bar at that speed" I won't be doing that again. One hand on the bar, no wobble.

....Greg
The lights are on the highway bars. Just a piss poor picture and hard to see them. They work great and thanks again for your help! :)

....BD
You know, the anticipation of the first ride of the year is almost worth not being riding since last November! ( Holy crap, Im think I'm losing it! Cabin fever, ya know!)
