spotlight wiring help needed....

Trying to figure out the best way to wire my spots. I hooked my radio to my running lights, so that wire is out. I want to be able to run the spots on with high beam, but kinda thinking maybe also with low beam. (I run my high beam 98 % of the time)
Is there a relay that will let me take the two hots from the headlight and a ground and then power the spots. I realize there will be a moment when the spots may flicker off when I switch from high to low, but that should be fine. If not I will hook them to high only and oh well.
Like I said, I run high beam 98 % and maybe low if somebody flashes me. I hate to blind people, but I want them to see me also.

Thanks, Bill

I would detatch the radio from the tail lights. Get a small fuse panel and a big relay (at least 20 amps) and hook the relay to operate from the tail light wire. Hook the 20 amp side of the relay to run the new fuse block. Run the radio and spotlights and whatever from individual fuses on the fuse block. Put a heavy in-line fuse between the battery and relay to protect it.

Add a switch between the spotlight fuse and the spotlights so you can turn them off in the daytime, otherwise they'll always come on when you turn the bike on.

Cactus Jack has a thread here that shows exactly how to do all this with photos and diagrams. You should go look it up.

This was his original thread, but I thought he'd added some more diagrams & stuff.
