True Dual Cobra's vs V&H Baggers**HELP**
Not sure if this thread exist so I thought I would start one. I currently have the Cobra true duals w/ billet tips. After putting them on they sounded little better than stock.( I was not impressed) So I removed the baffles, wrapping and cut them in half which improved the over all volume and depth of the pipes but still not on par with what Im looking for. I really like mine loud and rumbly ( had straight pipes on a VTX1300C and LOVED Them!!)
So I found a posting that is selling the V&H Baggers and want to purchase but Im not sure if this is going to meet what I am wanting. I have called Cobra and VH, and VH has assured me these are loud and rumbly (98db) and should sound like the straight staggers my buddy has on his Shadow Areo 750. If so this will get me what i want, but at this time I dont know of anyone locally that has a Nomad w/ the VH to hear them What are everyones thoughts on this as I know many of you have the VH's. I also called Cobra and they do not have any db ratings on their pipes so I can not compare the VH's to my Cobras on the VTX I had. They also stated that the true duals are touring pipes and are not meant to be loud ( Then what the hell are the pipes they make for HD baggers?? They are crazy loud and wake the dead!) Thanks in advance and I look forward to any help I can get. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

V&H should be as loud as you might require short of getting busted on every ride... You can tailor them to suit you pretty easy.
Mine are tailored to be a bit more quiet that your liking I guess, but really loud pipes just wear me out on a long ride. In city traffic you sure know i am there, but on a long highway run I can still think.

The vance and hines with the ultimate baffle would fit the bill. I"m almost 100% positive.
I too went from cobra shorts on my vn 900 to the vh pipes and I was disappointed until I installed the ultimate baffle.

+1 ,,, V&H with UB will fill your ears full. I own them and when I want a little quieter I slip in the stock baffles.

Thanks!! I sent a PM to Jasperboy about the UB. From all the post I am guessing this is where they are coming from. Am I correct? Also how pricey are these and how do I get a set?
Once again thanks for the help! |

I have a friend that has a Nomad ('03) with the Cobras, I have the V & H on mine. The stock V&H is considerably louder than the Cobras. DKdixie & I are the ones that designed the Ultimate Baffle just for the V&H because we wanted a louder & lower exhaust note from the pipes. I machined us up a couple of sets at work on several lunch breaks (about a months worth). I posted a drawing on here for anyone that wanted to make them they could, and Jasperboy went the extra step and found someone that could produce them.
There's a multitude of things you can do to the V&H, but to my ears, the Ultimate Baffles ARE the Ultimate sound that your going to get out of a Nomad, and folks have been modifying them too. On another note, I'm like Mac, I AM NOT REAL IMPRESSED WITH COBRA's CHROME either. ??? The Original design of the Ultimate Baffle.(Which is what I'm still running)

Yesterday I went by several cops poised to get someone in my small town. I tried to do everything I could to tip toe by them, but the V&H w/Ultimate baffle would not cooperate. Fortunately they apparently were not in the mood to get my noise. If you like straight pipes revolver, you will love the V&H with the UB. |

Stock V&H Duals sound like the old Glas-Pac mufflers of the 70's. Replace the stock V&H baffles with the custom-made "Ultimate Baffles" and you have a winner for sure. This will be all the gnarly sound your ears can handle...and it does sound good... ;)!
Like VulcanE and dkdixie...using their drawings and insight...I had a pair machined by a friend, but very much to his credit, Jasperboy has a contact who can make these things available for the masses. You will probably have to PM him as to when he will be placing another order. I can't say for sure...but they will probably be about $100 a set....maybe less. Good luck!

True Dual Cobra's vs V&H Baggers**HELP**
maybe i just ride with some other really loud bikes but I don't think the ultimates are overly loud. couple people have mentioned about the cops gig and maybe Im wrong, with only riding for 4 year but i never even hesitated when rollin by cops. Again, when i group ride, i ride with some loud bikes, put the ultimates to shame. I have a buddy with a M109R. when he cracks the throttle it literally blows a dirt cloud off the street and I feel it in my chest. anyways. I love the baffles, thanks again guys. I was dissapointed in the V&h until the ultimates came about..

revolver.....love the name since I sold guns for 45+ years!!
Anyway, if you want to hear the Ultimate Baffles on V&H pipes, give me a holler and we'll meet up. We're not that far apart. I ride over to Toccoa/Clarksville/Clayton area quite often which isn't that far from you. 706.781.0999 Home 770.595.2398 Cell

I dont think the cops are going to pull you over just for loud pipes most of the time UNLESS your cranking the throttle right in front of them IMO. At least they dont where I live.
