Givi trunk
I am planning a road trip for June. Mrs. B. is going with me. That's good. Mrs. B. is a notorious overpacker. That's bad. Mr. B. is a notorious cheapskate.
I'm gonna need a trunk. I have a Givi E50 Maxia that I have had since the Lincoln administration. It has been on several bikes. I am thinking of replacing the passenger backrest and luggage rack with a wompus rack, then drilling it to accept a Givi mount. Then just attach the E50 to it. Not very pretty, but I think it is the best option I have for the money, since the only thing I would have to buy is the wompus rack. I would have a hard, locking trunk that can be easily detached and carried into a motel room. I could also add lighting to the trunk for additional safety. Has anyone else added a Givi trunk? How did it work out? Got pics? thanks Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Just my opinion, but a Givi trunk looks weird on a cruiser. But if price, not style is your driving factor, you already have the trunk.

I agree with Scott. I have a Givi on my ST1300. It is well made and matches the style of the bike very well, but I think it would look completely out of place on a cruiser-style bike.

They look fine on a sport tourer or a scooter - just not on a cruiser.

I have no doubt the Givi would look out of place on the Nomad, but some of us are just COB's (cheap old bastards). The less something costs, the better I like it.
Besides, I could swap it back to the current set up as soon as the trip is over. surely someone else has done this already... Login or Register to Remove Ads |

I don't think so, most of us use a HD tour Pak.

GIVI Trunk
Quote:
Yes my Buddy Howard has a GIVI on his Nomad -- I am rigging My Nomad beside his in the Attached Picture with a Fiber Glass Harley replica for $285 and using a Wompus Rack to mount it -- Also I have a Silver GIVI from a Motorcycle that I traded for my ST1300 -- Plan to rig the GIVI to also fit on the the Wompus Rack should I decide to take off the larger Tour Pak -- Now if there is a Way to retain My Passenger Grab Rails with the Wompus Rack (to be determined) I have ordered the Surface Mount Dynamic-Clusters One Bulb Does it all-Running Light, Brake Light, Plus Turn Signal From http://www.customdynamics.com/motorc...c_clusters.htm Does Anyone know the die-mentions (Length & Width) of the LED Light Strips that I have seen on the Harley Tour Paks that I have seen?? Then I can order these from the LED Light Source in above listed URL?? Northern Dancer, Warm Regards, Ron

What's nice about the Givi is that it is quick detachable and has a carry handle. That's very handy when traveling.

Well, I decided to go for it. I ordered the Wompus rack this morning, and some auxiliary lighting from Admore Lighting. I guess I will have a project to work on pretty soon.

I got the rack on the bike a week or so ago, and over the weekend I mounted the Givi E50 Maxia on it. I don't think it looks too bad, but then I'm the guy that wanted to paint our bedroom Kawasaki green.
I also got the lights in, everything works good. I still have some loose ends to tie up before I put the bike back on the road. I want to clean it good while the bags are still off (tire change), and I want to wrap and insulate where I tied the admore lights into the OEM wiring. Long term I am thinking of adding a junction box for the tie in, maybe mounting it under the left side cover. I should have thought about that before I started this project. Oh well. Hopefully I can post up some pics pretty soon. I really like how this has turned out. Having a trunk makes a bike so much more useful. Now I am thinking about trying to track down a better back rest to mount on the trunk, in order to make Mrs. B more comfy. I almost ordered a Corbin today... I would like for it all to match. |

WOW, with Corbin prices what they are I can't believe a COB would even consider ordering from them.
Why not leave it as it is and see how she likes it, if it needs to be better get some foam and vinyl and re do it yourself.

Harley Tour Pak/Trunk......
Just put a new "generic" tourpak/beer box on my bike.
Looks just like a Harley Tourpak. Even come with backrest and chrome top rack. Around $130, with shipping. Check motorsports.com

For $130, I'm betting it doesn't look just like a Harley tourpak.

"Hardley Davidson"?
Well you can pay 5 to 7 hundred bucks for the high dollar HD Tourpak, but I am very happy with these.
And IMO I think they look just as good as any Harley box. As you can see it comes with attached backrest and chrome top rack. The fake leather bag was not included, but is attached to top of rack and is very handy for extra storage, and I also installed a LED brake lite bar ($21.99) on back of trunk/box for added visibilty.
