I didn't vote because I needed a category of, "I'm waiting for all the rest of you to get high miles on a lot of them, then I'll take the plunge."

I have over 16K miles on mine. I'm assuming you want to see someone who has run through a couple sets of tires?

I don't know enough mechanically to know what the possibility of problems are other than the tire itself, but that is a lot more mass spinning around. Don't know whether bearings and gears etc. are reliable when cranking up the mass like that or not. I just need a bunch of people to get high miles and be the genie pigs to find out if there is any down side. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Dan, those of us here on KawaNOW are not the first ones to go to a car tire. Others have been doing it for many, many years. All you have to do is check out some of the various forums and sites on the web. There are plenty of sources out there.
P.S. I put on my first car tire just over two years ago. I will never go back to a MC tire for the rear.

I am new to the nomad and trying to find out more information on using a car tire for the rear. Is it any harder turning? Is the ride much different? The tires on my bike are still pretty good but i may look into this this winter and save the rear to use as a front later on.

I've got over 6,000 on a CT on my Nomad and as far as I'm concerned there are no negative affects on handling or anything else. The tire still looks like new, gives a better ride, handles better in sand and gravel, and costs less than a motorcycle tire. I don't think it weighs much more than a motorcycle tire, so I don't think there will be any detrimental affects to the bearings, brakes, etc.

I will for sure switch over as soon as my E III is done. I have put one CT on a 1600 Nad here in my shop and have 2 more bikes to do in a couple weeks for other friends. 1500 Nomad and a VN900LT...
