1999 Nomad magazine article

This one should make the green/green guys happy.

I was going through a box in the attic and found that I saved a rider magazine from July 1998. I bought a Nomad about 6 months later.

They warm you to turn the handle bars to the right so you don't bump your head reaching for the key :)

They dyno'd it at 51 horse power and 70lbs torque.

Price was $11,999 back in 1999. It's amazing they kept near that price for nearly a decade. I guess they don't believe in inflation.

They ended the article saying, "if stock harleys are merely starting points for coustimizing and engine hop ups, imagine what could be done to a nomad with the money left over from the lower inti tail buy in."

Too bad they put the slower green/green in the magazine. I bet if the red/red was in it, they would have dyno'd at 52 hp and 71 torque. It is just a fact.

I didn't realize that the two-tone pattern on the lower part of the tank looked that way. I really like it!

I also had an April 1999 Motorcycle Cruiser Magazine test of a red/red nomad against a Road King and a Valkyrie. It got a lot of praise in that article too. One thing that they mentioned more than once was that it was the one that got all the looks and comments at the gas stops.

When I bought mine, the PO still had that copy of Rider Magazine and gave it to me. Every time the Nomad is reviewed it gets praised.

Well yeah, when it's at the gas stop with a Road King and a Valkyrie. Now if it was there with a grn/grn...that's a different story entirely!

That is surprising how closely the price of a Nomad held for nearly ten years. Wish other stuff did the same!

the green/green always gets the most looks.. i ride with a lot of harleys and triumphs and it really drives their owners nuts when on a lot of occasions girls in the pub come out and say mine looks the best. it cracks me up as mine is the only one with factory paint....

by the way dan, could you be parted from the green/green magazine? we didnt get that mag here in oz.

Very cool...I decided I had to have a green/green after seeing an article in Motorcycle Cruiser where they specified a '99 green/green as a great used buy. People always seem to complement the color combo, and I like it because it's different.

Ok, gotta add my 2 cents,
For some reason, the green/green combo appears to shift smoother, better fuel milage, tires last longer, and the seat is more comfortable..Not sure that the color can do all of that, but man does it sure seem like it. :)

Thanks for the article Dan....Would like to get a copy of that mag. also..Will do some research on the web and see if I can find a source.

I don't know what it costs to send a magazine to OZ, but sure I'd send it if you cover it. PM me the details and address.
