eBay bidding

Not sure where to put this.

I'll bet there are alot of us that end up bidding on the same thing on eBay at the same time. Not an issue to bid against another KawaNOW member if it's a one off or hard to get item but what if we're all bidding on the same item that is listed over and over. (The lower bag rail thread got me thinking.)

What if we posted (somewhere) when we're bidding on a Nomad/Vulcan related item (with our eBay handle). Might help keep the bidding low for the eventual winner especially if we know there's going to be another identical item up the next day (or if there are 3 or 4 of the same item up at the same time). If it's not Nomad/Vulcan related, bid away!

I won't clog up the forums posting about what I'm bidding on if Trip (and the forum in general) think it's a bad idea.

Not a bad thought. If the others have no problem with it.

Would work great if everyone that has a Nomad was on this site, still I guess it could potentially reduce the final price a bit if a few members were interested at the same time on an item.

Then we would happily outbid each other until I won. :)

In an "open market" it will eventually sell at what the market will bear regardless of any collusion among a seperate group of buyers. If it did have an effect to keep value down would you want to "harm" the seller if he were a KawaNow member?

I don't bid on eBay, and I seldom buy from eBay. I don't have time to sit and watch prices go up. I'm all for instant gratification, so when I do, I only use the "buy it now" price. You can bid to your heart's content and it won't bother me any.

I wouldn't want to harm anybody but I hadn't thought about the seller being a KawaNOW member. I was thinking more along the lines of the massive aftermarket parts like bag rails, lights, etc that 4 or 5 overseas companies always sell.

You got a good point, brother.

That idea sounds ok until you start dealing with humans. "All for one and one for all" only works for ants, bees and French Legends.

The only way I buy on e bay is if one of you mugs will do it for me. I have just had nothing but problems with e bay and pay pal.

I been sniped, I been recorded on a web camera for my pass word, I had pay pal shoot me a note saying they took my account for not enough in it.

For it i get spam mail both from e-bay and pay pal , and the last time was about some pink mittens which I have no idea about. I have never touched pink mittens or ever tried to sell any.

It's been years now since I have even looked at e bay signed in. I hope they think I'm dead.

I buy from Ebay a lot, but I only do "Buy It Now", because I was outbid the first time I used Ebay at the last minute while I was at work.

I'd imagine less than 2% of Nomad riders are active forum users. I don't see it helping.

That was more or less what I was thinking Jarad, we are really a small percentage.
There are around 2000 reg members , perhaps 500 active enough to check posts regularly out of how many Nomads in North America for example?

I think your 500 is very optimistic. Most posts on the forum have under 200 views. I'd imagine a LOT of those views are the second or third view for the active members. I'd bet less than 100 members actively read 95% of the posts.

AND that's split up between 1500, 1600, and 1700 bikes.
