Sparton Electronics
Do any of you remember the old Sparton horns, phonographs, radios, and TVs? Well a piece of history disappeared last night as the building these were originally produced in went up in flames. The building encompassed almost a full city block and the pictures were taken looking south toward the building.
This was the view from my back porch over the top of another factory. Walking around the north end of the first building this is what I found. This afternoon 15 hours later this is what is left. The building has been empty for a couple of years now and fortunately there are no reports of anyone being injured during the fire. DC

I remember the Spartan name now that you mentioned it, Too bad that the building is gone, but as long as nobody got injured its not the worst thing that could have happened. It looked like it was quite a fire.

They still have a couple of trucks on scene 26 hours latter pouring water on the rubble trying to kept it from flairing back up. Sparton moved into the defense industry many years ago and did a lot of work for the Navy. Many thousand sona-bouys that the navy deployed came from this plant but they fell on hard times about 10 years ago and they finally shut it down totally here a couple of years ago. They are thinking that someone got in and started a fire to stay warm and this is the result. Sure hope they got out if that is wat happened.
This is one model of what they made http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ra...219809950.html DC

Always hate when we lose a bit of history. That was a tremendous fire.
