I hate wasting my typing skills beating a dead horse... but when our community organizer was running there was a lot of us saying NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO he's not presidential or even leader material..... so to those that didnt understand then.... do you now?
New slogan for 2012 will be the old slogan of "Do you want 4 more years of Obama?"........ Hillary is in the wings waiting quietly and patiently..... Oh well, people forgot what 4 years under Carter got us... so to will Obama's reign fade from their minds... we will do it to ourselves again.

The people that voted him in wanted change. Well, they got it. Country in worse shape now than before. Price of everything is now sky high. No raises for people on fixed income although everything in sight costs more. So now those people can't afford to buy the essentials they need.
Clinton says she isn't running in 2012 but then she is a politician and you know what that means. If their mouth is moving they are lying.

I really would like to hear from anyone that voted for Obama try to explain what he is doing -- not only in Libya, but with just about everything else this guy is about. The job of being the President of the United States is far beyond his community-block skills; and the entire world sees it -- which is part of the reasons you are starting to see disruptions across the globe.
One of many things that grate-me about him is just the simple fact this country has been through one of its worst financial calamities, and is struggling to recover... while he sees fit to travel and take "time-off" on the backs of taxpayers. (Including Michelle's trip to Spain -- which stills burns my @ss!) This guy is truly an elitist of the utmost caliber. The least he could do is give some sort of appearance that he too is cutting-back on the luxuries of life. But nooooooo.... not this guy. He's living it up like a king. Obama has got to go. ::)

Dave- I don't disagree with your basic message to "plan ahead" but most have paid into SS their whole adult life expecting to receive a portion back. This is not welfare or food stamps. How do hard working people plan for the government money grab called higher taxes (we will see them continue to rise due to the irresponsible free spending of our money). I have numerous examples of irresponsible spending by our lovely government under both parties. Term limits is the key to getting these idiots to vote for what is best long term for this country and not short term decsions to get re-elected. my .02

Dave, I was working hard one day and had a stroke. I have paid into the system since I was 15 years old. And I want my money given back to me. And I see nothing wrong with expecting it. I can't see where that should be a problem for anyone to understand. I didn't have a choice on whether to pay in, and I don't have a choice on how I will get it back. But I do expect to get it back. So, go bite someone else's leg.

You sort of summed up up your life in a very simple and non-detailed statement there. NOT to mention the problem is not social security being broke, thats just another symptom from the same root cause. Which is the politicians who have been using it as slush fund. IF it had been left alone since it was started it would not be going broke. And they have become professionals at keeping us all arguing its your fault or my fault....... and we keep chasing that ball like some well trained dogs.

But do the math. How much have you paid in and how much will you get back? I've paid in all my life, also. But from what I figure, I'll be able to draw on it for less than 2 years before I've exhausted all I've ever contributed. I will then become a another person drawing on what the workers are paying in. Social Security and Medicare are the biggest ponzi scheme ever. It can not survive. My question is when are we going to stop it? But the older I get the more I say to heck with the youth. Give me mine! |

If I'm not mistaken, I didn't tell Dave to bite his good leg. As an American, if he wishes to, he has that choice.
As I said I didn't have a choice to pay in or not. If my wife and I hadn't planned for the future, I probably would have lost my house and or both my cars, maybe the Nomad, when I had my stroke. Social Security isn't going to make me rich, S.S. and other income will keep me warm and fed. We have that going for us. Many others aren't prepared well and will not do as well, should something happen to end their working career's. The Republican party has not wanted the social security system since it was created. It's no secret that the stock market would love to get their hands on all the retirement money. If nothing is done to it, S.S.will run out in 26 years. I don't think that will be fair to the people who will be in their 50's and 60's at that time. And please I am not a Democrat, but I can be an a$$hole [by choice]. IMO.

LBJ was the first to raid the SS coffers (to pay for his humanitarian bombing in SW Asia - I think that is were BO got the idea). If I recall correctly he was a Dem. However, since his days both parties have made raids on the SS funds. And, it want take 26 yrs to run out as the SS cks folks are getting today are in some part being paid out of general tax revenues. SS was never intended to be the sole or even primary retirement fund of us old folks. But, it could have been much better if the greedy had not tapped into it to pay for other things we don't need.

I don't know of any government program that has been left alone. They go one way, until a party is in power. Then they go that way with the other party in power. We haven't been represented properly since this country came out of the 1st world war. Here in Vermont we have had some great Governors and senators. One President worth spit. [ Calvin was a conservative] But no one worth talking about since 1975. Bernie Sanders, is a stand up guy. He is a Socialist, and I laugh everytime someone calls a dem. a socialists. The dems can't stand tall next to Bernie. He is, who he is, like him or not, he is true to his cause. I only wish the rest of them would catch the feeling of being true to their cause without faultering and giving in to the money. I am neither a Rep. or a Dem. defintately not a Socialist. I vote Independently and hope for some honesty.
