Has anyone used High Mileage motor oil?

My putt-putt seeps oil at the round cap? between the valve cover and above the spark plug, on my rear cylinder. I'm thinking...ouch...this winter running a high mileage oil might seal that seep. Anyone, anyone ? Thank you. ;>)

Seems like you have a bad seal at the cam shaft plug seal with the valve cover gasket.. This is unfortunate since the engine needs to be lowered a bit to access these gaskets and seals.

The easy cheat is to make a mush of a little ivory soap from a bar if one mixed with a little water, than paint the slurry where the leak is. This may need to be done over again after rains if rain washes the soap away. You would use a cheap water color paint brush to apply it.

You can try the high milage oil so long as the bottle doesn't have "EC" rating on the back That EC means energy conserving, and if you use that indee you will save engery because the clutch will slip and save more energy than you want.

I might suggest if you still want a internal fix to try some Lucas oil modifier.. Which ever type dino or synthetic matched to what ever oil you run.

Hi milage oils are blended for worn engines, but I have no idea what your put put is, or if it has 75,000+ miles on it....

If you leave out the '>' and type ; D with no space like I jus did you will get this

I don't think there's a whole lot of us with high mileage bikes.

You can also clean the area around the leaking cam plug and smear a bit os silicone around the edges. Sometimes this works for a while untill you can get at it to fix properly.

I have used the Lucas products and they are very good. You might try the high mileage oil also. You didn't say how many miles are on your bike.

I would verify the grade of oil required by the year of your bike's motor. My bike requires SE, SF or SG class. How is it the oil is smart enough to only plug the leak and not other places you don't want plugged? Use Mac's or Ring's advice for a temporary fix until the end of your riding season. My personal advice would to be repair the leak with the appropriate sealant or gasket during your riding off season.

Check the label on the oil also .. most of the "High Milage" oils I have seen have the Energy Conservation logo on them .. which means they have friction modifiers in them which could cause clutch slipping.

I tend to be a "fix it right" kinda owner. Max life commercial mentioned " gaskets will be renewed". Humm, well I couldn't help but think about that oil seep I wipe up every trip. Just wondered if any fellow nomaders thought this or tried to use that oil for that. Thank You all that answered.
