Quick Release Bolts for Saddlebags

If anyone uses quick release bolts in their saddlebags check their tightness ever so often. On my trip to Starkville, MS a couple of months back I stopped at a rest stop and when I opened the right saddlebag I noticed it seemed extremely loose. Turned out the front bolt had worked its way completely out. Two or three days ago I noticed the same thing with the left bag. The rear bolt was very loose. Never had that problem with the original bolts but the quick release bolts seem to loosen from the vibration. Keep a check on them.

Thanks for the reminder Gene. I check mine every couple weeks for the same reason.

Those bolts always seem to work loose unless you loctite them in place. My seat bolts do the same as well.

My saddlebag bolts seem to tighten from the vibration, some times I have to get a set of pliers to turn them to get them to loosen up enough to use my hand.

I just keep a socket wrench handy when I need to loosen the bolts on mine. Pretty quick!

My stock saddlebag bolts always stay tight without locktite. But I have lost the rear seat bolt but it was an after market chromey bolt. Good thing I didn't lose the rear seat too.
