99 Kaw Vulcan Nomad - i have seen the light .
I've had bikes off & on since i was 8yrs. of age , at 26 i bought an 1100 H-D sportster [blockhead] it was the most fantastic "thing" i ever rode........................until about 3wks ago when lifes mishaps finally smoothed out & bought an excellent condition 99 Nomad 1500 . it took the better part of 2wks. to go over the machine ,renew all fluids/filters, ect. Two days later the weather cleared off ,so i lit up in th driveway, started swappin' cog's and makin' my way to a hwy. 51 -S- within 6 min or right around 4th notch, .......i realized H-D is NOT the only fantastic machine !! I am impressed with everything on and about my new : old Vulcan Nomad _-_-_-_- 21yrs. Ive walked in the wilderness......now enlightened thanks to kawasaki .

Welcome to the board. One thing about the '99 is that they have a Plastic Oil Gear or POG. If your bike still has it, you need to get a Judge's Oil Gear or JOG and replace the POG.
I have a '99 and a service manual if you ever need any hints or help, let me know.

I wanna know too, Jim. If that's U.S. 51 S. he mentioned, he's gotta be somewhere between New Orleans and Chicago! LOL!

Welcome from the great Pacific NW! There are a ton of people riding metric bikes who could easily afford an HD....but they also have "seen the light"....or as in my case, very simpy want more value for their hard-earned dollars. For me personally, the two single most important features I need in a bike are comfort and reliablility. "Coolness" is way down the priority list... . When you put on the miles some of us do on this forum, reliability is a HUGE thing. Congrats on your "transformation"...lol.....you'll really enjoy that Nomad!
