Question Buying 2005 Nomad

Hello everyone. New to the forum so I appologies if this is not in the right spot.

I hope to soon be the proud owner of a Nomad, and I'm looking at a 2005 Nomad.

Its single owner who took great care of the bike, some upgrades, cobra exhaust, Chrome extra's etc...

The previous owner loved to ride it kept great care of the bike, it has over 41 thousand miles. I'm wondering what maintenance issues I will run into on a 2005 after 40 K Miles?

Also anything to look for in buying?

Thanks

Research the cam chain tensioner expected lifespan and find out if the previous owner has had work done on them. Essentially they are a spring with a limited lifespan, about 30-50K miles on average. Chuckster sells an extender that modifies the stock cam chain tensioner and buys a lot of time before it needs to be replaced. Thats all I can think of right now.

Ditto on the cam chain extenders. That's about it, buy it and don't look back.
Welcome to the forum.

The clutch spring may also be close to needing replacement, if it has not been done already.

Ditto on the above comments. I assume by "kept great care" you mean there is documentation of the services. That being said, I would still do a thorough inspection (yourself or shop). On a used bike with that kind of mileage brake and clutch fluids, shock oil, anti-freeze, plugs, differential oil, oil and filter change might very well be put on the "winter to do list". These services can be done by someone with mechanical ability, spare time and can save $$$$. Besides it gives you a chance to get to know the bike. Many of the folks here have installed a fairing and tour pack. Good luck with the new ride and welcome from Calif.

Looks like you have a lot of good suggestions. Nothing to add here.

Welcome from Nebraska.

Take it for a test ride. Listen for anything that sounds unusual. If it runs and rides good your probabbly good to go. If the clutch is going to slip it will do it in fifth gear when you get on it. Cam chain tensioners are an easy fix.

In fair warning, the Nomad is louder than my previous bikes... but its normal.

All the above. Mine is the 05 black/silver. Just had the cam-chain tensioner extensions installed @ 43,000 miles. Do all other services myself. Love this bike and you should too. Welcome and enjoy.
