New Bike / New Member

Hi all, new member of the forum. I bought a 2005 Black/Silver Nomad 1600 with 20k on the dial in June. Previously my ride was is 2006 Suzuki C50T with 20k miles.

This bike is night and day compared to my old ride. My C50 was and is a great bike, but... I spend a lot of time at 60-80mph, and while it would go there, it sure would get wound up. 4400 rpm at 70 just doesnt feel that relaxing. The Nomad has gobs of torque and is happy to thump along at 70mph all day. Twist the throttle and... well, as I found out, you are knocking at the 100mph door pretty quick.

In the 1.5 months I've had it, I've been busy adding to and modifying. Here is the list so far...

What came with it:
Cobra Speedsters Xtra Longs
Vista Cruise
Windshield Bag
Kuryakyn Highway Pegs
*missing rear pillion, sissy bar, hand holds, and heel shifter

What I put on it (in order):
Stebel Air Horn
Studded Tank Bib
Studded Fender Bib (for that solo look)
Kuryakyn ISO Grips
Kuryakyn Throttle Boss
Ground Vista Cruise to fit new grips
Gadget's Accessory Power Outlet
Kuryakyn Toe Shifter Cover
Replacement Heel Shift Lever
Kuryakyn Harley Brake Pedal Cover (used for Heel Shifter)
Right Side Caddman 9x2" K&N (left side not done yet)
Techlusion TFI Fuel Processor

Whew, the bike has basically been an after work project since I've gotten it. Once I get the left side K&N on and fully remove the ICS's I will give my wallet a rest for a bit.

Lastly, I've only got 15 mi on the TFI, so I'm still adjusting. I feel pretty confident with the pilot at a hair past 3. The accelerator pump is at 5:30, which seems odd considering most aren't that high, but seat of the pants tells me this is the best. The main jet is off, and the crossover is at 9.

Anyways. Thats enough for now... here is a pic right after I bought it. Need to take a new pic of it now. Lol.

Cool...... Welcome.... First thing I was gonna say was get the heel shifter back on and use it atleast in 1st to 2nd gear shifting. It is far smoother shifting a Nomad this way.

But you did

Next get the air cross over tube out. Do right side only air. I went naked but you can mount bling there if you like. If you whizz wheel the left side of the air tube carefully, you could someday plastic weld it back in place if ever. The place to cut for doing that is apx 5/8th" from the flange.

Making a little "L" bracket for the vista cruise can make the big black and ugly bracket go away too.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

macmac, thanks for the tips... Regarding the heel shifter, boy you know it. Don't know why the prev owner took it off. Since I already have the other K&N coming, I think I'll put it on for now and re-evaluate when it cools off. Tired of getting sweat drops all over the bike while I work on it.

That reminds me, I am in Northeastern Texas. Mount Pleasant to be exact. 120mi east of Dallas, 60mi west of Texarkana.

Edit - Don't know if anyone is from the Volusia Riders group, but I go by the same screen name there as well. In fact, my 'zuki is in their official member video on youtube. F.Y.I.
