New Member Introduction
I hope I am following the rules by posting here. I am a new Nomad owner as of last week. My name is Bill McDonell and I live near Keene/ Cleburne, Texas. I am 57 years old and took an early retirement. My school teacher wife retires in a few weeks. We thought it would be great to do some sightseeing on pretty weather days. I am no newbie to big bikes, just been off of them for a couple of years.
We bought a new 2007 black Nomad after spending way too much time evaluating too many bikes. Originally I figured on buying a Harley and we rented several. But after doing my research, I just could not be so naive or silly to pay twice the price for less value and a name. My judgment led to the Nomad because it is a reputable V-twin well known for its dependability, warranty, comfort, price, and the thing just looks good. I would like to meet and ride with some fellow Nomad owners. I want to learn to do my own maintenance and I have already read the debaffle procedure several times and bought a hole saw. Is 300 miles too soon to start cutting it up? I have a 3000 sq ft shop that we call our shop/house. I have an old car that I bought new in High School, and a couple of old Honda CT's that I play with in the shop. Hopefully some Nomad owners will feel welcome to come by to visit, piddle, and show me the ropes. I am coming up on the first oil change. :) Please be kind if I posted in the wrong place or gave too long of an intro. You all have my respect and thanks for sharing your knowledge. Well Bill, let me welcome you aboard from CA. This is a great place to interact with other Nad owners -- great people.
I'm happy to hear that you did buy a black Nomad, they are the fastest -- don't let the others BS you, they will try, but don't listen. Enjoy! |

Welcome to the group from Phoenix, AZ! Just like TomK said, black Nomads are the fastest. I can vouch for that.

Welcome Bill from South Florida. Congrats on the bike and early retirement. You made the right choice with the Nomad. Add a little silver to that bike and you do have the fastest Nomad made. Welcome aboard.

Bill,
Welcome and yes, good intro in the right place, plus we sure agree with the "more bike for less $" statement. Now let us know where you are and some of us might be over to use that shop, and drink your beer or Koolaid or whatever. |

Welcome, Bill. Congrats on the bike and retirement. You and your wife will have a blast on the Nomad. As others have already said, you won't ever regret buying the Nomad. You might want to look through this site, and you'll find a KawaNow group in Texas. That would probably be a good place to meet some folks in your area. Looking forward to talking to you more. Again, welcome.
P.S. Not to make you feel bad or anything, but black and silver is the fastest Nomad color combo. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. If you need any life lessons, Nico, BD, Todd1, and SWB, are Phd's on the subject ;) . |
