New project on Reckless fairing

tackled two projects this week prior to leaving for the Western Rally.
One, I wanted to upgrade my speakers to a model that could handle the stereo, so I installed some Polk db521 speakers. Had to enlarge the holes 1/16" but that was no trouble with my dremel. Sound is fantastic now.
Second, I always wanted gauges on my fairing so I could monitor oil pressure, water temp and volts. So I went and installed some auto meter, white face 2" gauges. Volt meter is hooked up, will have to wait for my oil change next week to hook up the oil pressure gauge. The water may have to wait until I get back because I need the adapter to hook into the upper rad hose, or the lower rad location, haven't really decided yet.

That looks really sweet! The gauges are nice to have, and you can't beat the Polk speakers. I have 4, 6 1/2" Polk DB651s, 2 in the fairing, and 2 on the tour pac. Here's a shot of where I put the adapter for the coolant temperature sending unit in the upper hose coming from the thermostat housing to the radiator. Please overlook the dirty frame, I promise I did give it a good cleaning before I buttoned everything up.
I would suggest before you cut the line, take a marker and draw a line down the hose to where you can orientate the hose back in the same position, if you look close at mine, you can see the black magic marker line running lengthwise, one is above, and one is below the adapter.

Very nice set up. What radio did you put in? I'm trying to find one with integrated Sirrius/Xm on it.

Fussion IP600- Marine grade, Ipod integrated inside that can be removed. Also has subwoofer, Sirius hook up and additional amp hook up as well. Very impressed with the unit so far.

Thanks John, I am really happy with how the project turned out. Sure wish you were joining Operator and his wife, Deb and I on our journey down to Crescent City. We'll miss you there, but I'll bring back pictures and we'll all have to get together to view when we get back.....

Kevin
