Southern Utah

My wife, Beverly and I took a Memorial weekend ride thru Southern Utah.

On the way,
We took hwy 89 south. 89 is a two laner that wanders through a lot of Southern Utah small towns.

Manti, Utah

We arrived in Zion Nat Park at sunset,

The next day we had breakfast with a bunch of super folks,

and then went for a real nice ride.
Starting out in St George,

Through Zion NP again, then

Lunch stop, a few miles before the North Rim of the Grand canyon,

At the North Rim,

The next day we rode to Bicknell via Zion, Escalante, and Boulder Ut.

and the Burr trail,

We pretty much put the camera away after that pic, but it was a great ride. 1500 miles, no rain, and very nice company! What a wonderful way to spend a weekend!

Took a very similar route when I purchased my Nomad in Tucson. Flew down, and drove back throught much of that. Zions is a blast to ride through. Thank God I live in the West! Glad you guys had a great time!

That looks like a fun area. Not too far away for me.

Good looking Nomad you have!

Did you happen to go East from Jacob Lake along the Vermillion Cliffs and cross the Colorado River at Marble Canyon? Marble Canyon is just West of Lake Powell and is pretty much where the Grand Canyon starts. The Vermillion Cliffs are really something to see. Lots of weird rock formations and what-not.

Do you mean on Alt 89 or another road? We didn't to that on this trip, but we will be there in about a week, and will be going east on Alt 89.

Yes, I believe that is 89A, and just past Navajo Bridge (maybe 11 miles) you hit Hwy 89, turn left to go to Page, right to go to Flagstaff.

Cool! I'll be riding that road in 6 days. :)

Very nice pics! I was wondering what your Nomad looked like with that new Voyager trunk. Yours is the first 1700 Nomad I have seen with a trunk....its looks good! They need to make a luggage rack for it though.... :-/! You need that extra bag for rain gear and things like that on multi-day trips (when riding two-up)! At least you do up here in the NW! Glad you had a safe ride! See you soon!

Thanks! and I agree on the rack. I've been looking today trying to find one I like. I need to have it on before next Monday as we'll be leaving then for a week long ride. I hope someone local has one in stock!

Tombstone. Interesting states you are missing on your map. Looks like you surrounded several states but never went in them. Please let us know when you decide to fill in Washington so we can meet up and ride.

I had hoped to finish up the eastern states last summer, but....obviously didn't. I got close to West Virginia, but no cigar. :( Maybe next summer...

As for Washington, I'd love to get up there! I'll let you know when I can make it, and thanks for the invite!
