riding a Victory

On Fri I went and test rode a Victory Vision tourer. It is a very nice bike and rides like a dream. I did think the transmission changed different from what I am used to. But in my opinion I would not trade my 1600 for it. I think the Nomad ride and handles just as good. I did like the heated grips and seats though. I think it listed for 23000.00 for anyone who wonts to buy one.

Ive heard that the Vision is a great riding bike, they are a little too futuristic in their styling for my liking, but Id still like to try one out if I ever get the chance. Some of the other bikes in the Victory lineup are really sharp looking machines.

Just dont look like a motorcycle to me. Looks like GEORGE JETSON would be riding one of these. To each his own. everyone has there own taste i guess. I like my 08 Nomad. Glad i bought it. I didnt have to mortgage my house to get it, it looks great , it rides great and has the features i like.

Just looking at it from the front it reminds me of Bozo the Clown. If I owned one, I would paint the trim piece around the front of the fairing a dark color so it would stand out so much. If I were to go the Victory route, I'd be looking at the Crossroads. It has much larger saddlebags and costs just a tad more than the Nomad. But I'd also wait until the second year model comes out. First year editions usually develop bugs that have to be worked out, and I really don't want that possible inconvenience.

i think the victory is awesome styling, but a little way out for me. i figure if you buy one you better like it. i feel like an outsider when i ride my 08 wing. luckily i have two v-twin cruisers when i want the nostalgic bike look. now the victory crossroads is another story. i would consider one of those if they were water cooled. i don't think i would ever buy another bike that is aircooled.

My kawa dealer is now selling Victory as well. I spent some time playing around with the Vision in the show room a while back. I agree styling is a bit too much out there. The electric windshield is kinda neat as well as a few other things. I did find it comfortable to sit on. The engine is air cooled, which is cheaper to build, so all and all I don't think I would pay $28000 Cdn asking price for it, considering you could pretty much buy 2 Nomads for that price, or 1 Goldwing.

I am planning to go to AZ Bike Week Cyclefest in April and get some test rides in. A couple of my "target rides" are the Voyager, Victory Cross Country, and the legendary Ultra Classic. I will not be drinking Kool Aid that day!

I guess everyone has their idea as to what the Vision reminds them of. Mine is, the front view reminds me of one of those critters from the movie "Gremlins" Now that Crossroads is another story......yes dear I know the Nomad is paid for.

riding a Victory

The dealer that I bought the Nomad from also sells Honda, Victory and Suzuki; sort of a one stop shop. When I bought the Nomad I test drove a Victory (can't remember the model), a Suzi M109 and the Nomad. I thought that the Vicotry motor was noisier than the Nomad and did not like the handling as well. I loved the motor and tranny on the M109 but did not like the seat/handlebar position or the money it would take to make it fit me. The Nomad was the hands down winner and I will not even think about going back. Suzi would have to make a bike with dual exhausts on both sides and hard bags and Victory needs to come down in price and change styling just a bit for my taste.

I like the looks of the Victory without the fairing, with the windshield. I don't like the cost of it, that is for sure. If I were to spend that kind of money, I'd by a couple year old BMW 1200 LT or a <gasp> Gold Wing.

By the way, the Nomad will not be leaving the garage for quite some time :)
