This phrase is the basis for our legal dealings with one another. It defines the very basis for our culture. We live by the standard of the Golden Rule and believe that we should treat everyone with dignity and respect; even our enemies.

Our enemies know that and use it against us. Case in point is the Islamic tradition of "Al-Taqiyya" where good muslims are required to lie to non-believers to achieve salvation.

How can we even begin to believe that Imam Fauk is telling anything even remotely resembling the truth regarding the Ground Zero mosque? Further, how can we believe anything that a muslim head of state tells the US and its diplomats?

We can not win against this reality as long as Christians believe exclusively in turning the other cheek and forgiving our enemies.

Do unto others as they would do unto you. Sounds good, but, in our society we learn to turn the other cheek from such an early age it's almost irreversible. I hate to think of what is coming to us infidels.

Islam seems to teach that salvation is acheived by "good works" and the ultimate "good work" which leads to guaranteed salvation is to die while fighting the infidels.

Therefore, I propose that as good Christians we should try to help as many of them as possible to acheive their salvation.

Idaho, I would add some more commentts to your initial comments concerning the Golden Rule.

The Golden Rule has an important context. We are to treat others as we would have them treat us. But underlying that idea is the truth that God is sovereign and just, and WILL deal out proper retribution to evildoers. False religion, and those who use it to justify murdering others, WILL one day be repaid, even thought they may seem to get away with it in this life (see the first three chapters of the book of Romans in the Bible). Sometimes, they even get retribution in this life (i.e. A nation taking a stand against their evil, which is also a biblical idea). The truth is not in season in our nation at this time. But, lies will not be allowed to rule forever. Justice will prevail, sooner, or later. (And we often hope it will be sooner than later!)

Yes Doug. You are correct. I'm just trying to let my fellow Christians know what the reality of Islam is, they are playing on the field with a whole different set of rules. We project our hopes and dreams onto our enemies and imagine that they are following our rules without knowing the truth.

You cant do kumbiya with people who's goals are to destroy you... you only buy them more time to prepare for what their goal was and still is and you end up in the same place but they are more powerful and prepared for your efforts.

If Islam is what they are saying "now", then let them begin by allowing their women the rights that America has..... if not, I think that sort of sums up and shows without a doubt they will say what they need to say to get where they want to be. Which is a world of Islam, not just a Nation of Islam.

Our freedoms can and will be used against us as long as we dont filter those who would use them to destroy us from using them.

Scary stuff going on, makes you wonder what the agenda or direction our teachers are taking our children behind our backs.
You cant pray (christianity wise) in school, you cant use the word GOD in them, yet they take a field trip to a Mosque under the guise of something although Im not sure how they can do it.
Christianity is under attack constantly, yet Islam is under a different set of rules from our leaders it would seem.

I take it most of you have never met a Muslim. As a recent college grad, I spent a lot of time working with Muslims and they are genuine people. They work hard for good grades while most Americans feel entitled to good grades. They work hard to pay their way through school where Americans feel mom and dad should pay for my school. You all talk about treating others like you would like to be treated, buy you aren't. They are trying to assimilate, but the want to keep their religion, something that is PROTECTED under the CONSTITUTION, while all of you are denying them a community center 2 blocks away from a strip joint next to Ground Zero!
