Klock Werks Flare Shield

I contacted Klock Werks about making a Flare shield for Vaq / Voy and got the following reply, and pics! A little on the pricey side, but if they perform as described and with the looks and being able to go shorter and still get protection, I would most likely buy one.

"We appreciate your continued interest in our products. I hope this email reaches you since it seems like you’ve missed some of the previous ones we tried sending you. We officially do not offer a windshield for the Kawasaki Vaquero at this time. However, I am very happy to inform you that we recently acquired a new Vaquero for windshield R&D purposes. So far we have successfully modified an existing FLARE Windshield and made it fit the Vaquero fairing well. The immediate increase in performance when compared to the stock shield was outstanding and very significant. Not only did it provide a much smoother and quieter experience for the rider due to the improved wind deflection, but there was also a very significant improvement in the handling of the motorcycle at highway speeds. After riding with the FLARE Windshield on it, riding with the stock shield almost seemed unsafe in comparison! We are really looking forward to putting some big smiles on some Vaquero owners’ faces with the FLARE Windshield. J

We do not have an official time frame for the release of this windshield. The R&D guys are continuing to test fit and develop the shield. Realistically speaking, it will probably take at least several months before we get close to having a production version ready for sale, but it should definitely be worth the wait.

If you have any further questions or thoughts you would like to share regarding this shield, please let us know."

KW has a list somewhere of the bikes he wants for R&D. The VV was/is on there for a while.

It sounds like they have made a good improvement over the oem windshield.

I would want the shield as short as possible that still offers enough protection to not have the wind buffeting my ears so bad I can't hear the radio.

I finally have had a chance to put 500 miles in two days using my baggershield. At some point when I can decide on a replacement, it will be gone. With it fully extended it provides adequate protection, but with just the shorter section in place I don't care to ride over about 45mph. If klock werks cant set me up soon with a flare that works well, I will be looking for a tinted shield in the 12-14 inch range... whatever puts it just below my eyeline.

Having recently ridden a bike with no fairing shield whatsoever, I would rather have that than deal with a too short shield on the Vaquero. I love the bike, but can't live with too short a shield. I am hoping the flare shield will provide protection while being the shortest that does...

I have a buddy with a 9" flare shield on his HD, but it gives him a lot better protection like it was a 11" or so. I look forward to them making a flare for the Vaquero.

OK guys...3/29 I will have my bike dyno'ed at Sabin Performance in Dallas....they are going to map the front jug, then map the rear jug...independently...$250

said it will take 1.5-2.5 hours to get it 100% right...metric cruisers, harley's and sport bike forums all had good reviews and I get to be in the room and watch it go down...i'm excited...

lot's of little preparations for my trip to the Ozarks april 19th...I will get a video of the air kit install up as soon as I can...and hopefully some video and pictures of the mods I have planned for the bike before the trip.

Would you be willing to share the Map once you have all this done so others of us could try it out and see how our Vaqueros would perform with similar setups?
