Did You Ride Today? Where To and How Far?

Did 85 miles today with our local CMA chapter in the RUN FOR THE SON ride to Lansing. We had about 120 bikes escorted into the Lansing Capitol by the Lansing Police motorcycle division.

Did You Ride Today? Where To and How Far?

Went riding with my daughter (Burgman 650) for about 210 miles. We stopped at various bike shops looking for a new helmet for her. Since it was 93 degrees today we stopped along route 66 for a rootbeer float, and later in the afternoon for a snowcone.

Did You Ride Today? Where To and How Far?

Rode with the local CMA chapter in the Run For the Son ride. We ended up in Corbin, KY for lunch (115 miles from home). Left there and headed south to Knoxville and on to Maggie Valley, NC. The trip meter read 300.0 miles when I parked it at my mother in law's. Overall, my son (12) and I covered 4 states, TN VA KY & NC. Great day!!

Did You Ride Today? Where To and How Far?

Rode 317 miles to and from the Old River Control Structures at the Southwest corner of Mississippi where it borders with Louisiana. We didn't cross into Mississippi due to the Angola Ferry being closed with the Mississippi River running extrememly high and swift. The weather was perfect with the temperatures in the upper 50's when we left home this morning at 8:30 and in the lower 80's when we arrived home at 7 pm. Not a cloud in the sky all day. Sunburned arms and face.

You guys aren't going to lose any weight eating all that ice cream.

I rode up to the church and cemetery where my grandparents are buried. Took some flowers as today was decoration.

Did You Ride Today? Where To and How Far?

I did about the same. Took the wife out for a Mother's Day ride. Our son followed on the Honda Reflex scooter. We rode to St Francisville and crossed the new John J Audubon Bridge over the Mississippi. Went through New Roads, La, and back over the Audubon Bridge to home. THEN we ate some key lime pie. 108 miles.

Did You Ride Today? Where To and How Far?

Took my niece for a 180 mile ride along the FL Space Coast from Oviedo to Mims to Titusville to get lunch. Then down A1A to Melbourne Beach. Pretty hot here in the mid 90s but the sea breeze helped a lot. Passed the Port Canaveral cruise ship terminal, man I wanted to stop and stowaway. Aha, its also Mayfly season here. I don't know if my bike will ever come clean again.

Did You Ride Today? Where To and How Far?

Our ride started Saturday morning around 9, leaving Columbus, IN riding to St.Louis, MO to visit my mother for Mother's Day. Took the southern route out of Indiana toward Louisville. Caught I-64 west to Mt.Vernon, Ill The weather was bit chilly the first half of the ride was not even 60*. Hit some rain for about 25 miles but did not hamper us at all. Had leather on myself, wife had sweats & a hoody but did not need to put on rain gear, she is amazingly tough ;) Arrived in Cahokia, Ill about 2pm with the sun shining and temp above 75. Stopped for fuel and stripped the heavy cold gear. The sun felt great. Arrived at parents house at 3 with 355 miles in the saddle. I don't need to say that the Nomad did awesome.
Left the St.Louis area on Sunday at 3pm sun shining and 84*. took a different route home. Choose to do the the Great River Road in Illinois, the southern route. Very nice.
Hit I-64 east in Mt.Vernon, Ill As we made our way east the temps started to drop & darkness moving in, I twisted the throttle on the Nomad & it responded just like I expected. The temps dropped as the sun was going down. We made our last fuel stop in Corydon, IN and put our cold gear on, the windshield was covered with bugs, thank goodness for the windshield . Hit I-65 north now on the home stretch just over 175 miles to Columbus. We pulled into the drive at 10pm on the dot. The yellow fuel light came on as I opened the garage door. We made it, 775 miles round trip, 2 days on 2 wheels. We are now ready to ride to the national in Maggie Valley. Of course we both took today off from to recover ;)
See Ya in MV

Did You Ride Today? Where To and How Far?

Like a lot of others I took the wife for a ride Mothers Day.
We needed to get some practice with the trailer, so we loaded it and took off.
Rode to Wilburton OK. US 270 is straight as a string.
I wanted to get use to the trailer before we hit the hills.
Headed south from Wilburton and rode to Talihina, east to Big Cedar,
then north on US 259 over Winding Stair Mt.
Then east on US 59/270 back to Arkansas.
65 miles north on US 71 to Greenwood and some mexican food.
The trailer pulled great. No wag and tracks nicely.
But it was windy and the wind plus the trailer reduced gas mileage to 29 mpg.
245 miles total.
