Glad you guys got some rumble now! I bought my Nomad with V&H's already on it or I'd be doing the some thing. I did use the hole saw to remove the baffles on the Spirit and I love it!

now I just need to paint. I think I'll go with gloss black.

Maybe dan was hearing the intake on the right side? Thats the only clicking sound I hear sometimes. I'll take the clicking with the good looks and smooth ride. JM2CW

We're gonna have to change your nick, BD.......How about FDN....."First Deep Nomad"....LOL.

Well, now that several of you have taken the plunge (not that I didn't trust you BD), I feel I'll have to do the same. But, I probably won't have time to do it until next week...but trust me...it's coming.

I would love to know what BD is up to now?

I wish I would have tried this before I installed V & H Baggers. I was told taking the baffles out wouldn't make much difference because the goat bladder was reason the exhaust lacked a rumble. I like the new exhaust except it was a pain to install (left side grinding) and the cross over does not have a chrome shield.

Good job and if Trip tries his, I'll have to go see the results some time.

This is a fairly common modification to stock exhaust systems. Did the same thing to my old Volusia 5 years ago. Definitely was louder. I will wait to do the Nomad pipes until more of you post your thoughts on the sound. Deep rumble or a bark?

Nico punched a hole in the baffles on my Volusia a few weeks ago using a piece of rebar. Talk about a fast, cheap way to get that deeper "rumpty rump" throaty sound ..... Worked, tho!! I love the sound on mine!!

Just took the bike for a 40 mile ride.
BD you are the man! I like the sound. I am going to call it a deep mellow sound. I don't think it is any louder, even at speed , just deeper.
I think it runs better and has more power ;) ( OK that part may be just my imagination :-[ )
I do like the sound and Trip I don't think you will regret removing them if you give it a try.
