I don't rely on pipes to save my life, and I practice emergency swerves, braking, etc on a pretty regular basis. I have driving lights, extra brake lights, more extra brake lights... I check tire pressures and fluids often. I've also seen plenty of folks look up, look over, check their mirror as I ride by when they didn't even take notice of the car in front of me. That tells me I have a little extra advantage.

...but even if I didn't... I "don't deserve to live"??? How very Nazi of you.

Thanks for seeing the intent of the post! That rumble ties to a memory... just like a favorite song.

It can also make a bad guy look over his shoulder and start to sweat...

For the record, I'm a baffled V&H guy myself, and don't really want that straight pipe sound, but I don't knock it either.

Too bad the curves in the road can't hear loud pipes. A lot of lives would be saved on roads like the Dragon.

True on that. Too many folks like to push the envelope, ride past their ability or their bike's ability. Loud and quiet alike.

Good story Pretzel. To each their own. The point being was that a child was helped and will remember for the rest of his days. Thanks for sharing.

Don't mind me. Sometimes I just like to try to out do another post with willful blunt force traumatic sarcasm.
Good eye! The Nazi tactic solely wasn't enough to convey the message. What I was going for was a mix of Nazi, Ron White, and Sun Tzu
Oh, and a dash of hateful, otherwise known as Top Cat.

I have V&H pipes. I try to be as courteous as I can when I'm in traffic and neighborhoods with the throttle, bearing in mind my reasonably loud rumble may be somebodies obnoxiously loud.

Some folks believe that the loud pipes do save lives, but I know the government is out there chomping at the bit with TERABYTES of regulations stored on a chip looking forward to regulate pipe noise. Regulating our fun and freedom is a mix of Chrimmas, Fourth of July, and Porn to them! It's like when Christians got fed to the Lions to the Romans! It's like when OJ Simpson nearly cut Nicole Simpsons head off and got off scott free to the black folks!

A sharp eye and mind is the best thing going for you on the road, and that ain't 100% all the time.

How could I have missed the Sun Tzu??? I hang my head in shame... And aye, blunt force sarcasm was behind the Nazi bit too. ;) Just can't throw in the FUN smileys from tapatalk (or... I haven't arsed around enough to sort them out at least)

Agreed that awareness is the number 1 life saver!

Now, BlownD. has been up in there too. He was born that way. No blunt force trauma to the head. Normal chile hood. Wore the little plastic helmet and knee and elbow pads. Just warped.

That's what this place is about, a platform for healthy exchanges of ideas and expertise from leading experts in myriads of fields. You can't get this stuff from other bike forums. They'll run your ass outa there!
