Hey guys, Ladies too if any, where the heck do you put the gear oil? I change my engine oil and filter on a regular basis and plan on changing the drivetrain oil when I replace the rear tire ( I just turned 5k miles). I though the gears shared oil with the engine, am I missing something here? Signed perplexed, lol

Hi Jbamz,
I put the gear oil in my beer....but it probably makes more sense to put it in the final drive. I just did mine. Used 75-90 synthetic. here is a link to Gadget's site detailing how to do it. It was easy...about 20 minutes first time...think I could do it in 10 minutes next time. Good Luck!! http://www.gadgetjq.com/gearcase_lube.htm

So the gear oil goes in the beer? Makes one regular, lol? So the gear oil is what I was calling the drive train oil? In technical terms -- it goes in the round thingy in the middle of the back tire on the left side ?

Yes, thats where it goes. Don't over fill it. Fill on side stand till fluid level is at the hole. Not running out just even with the fill hole.

Thanks got it. I didn't realize it should be changed so often, I thought each time I changed the rear tie. But, looks like an easy job, so I'll still doing it. Thanks for the help.

Thank god for this site!!! and trip to. LOL. I have never turned a wrench on anything close to this serious on a bike. Lots and lots on trucks, cars, and heavy equiptment. The bike scares the hell out of me. But after reading the posts here, I trust that if i begin the project, i will finish it, even if i have to call in the reinforcements (KAWANOW). Thanks for all ya'll do to help the mechanicaly challenged.
