Whats with you yankees?

Top Cat,

I am like you. used tow ave to everyone but so few returned the wave that I just stopped. If someone waves I will return it.

Valdez, I am not surprised that you think the Oregonians are dickheads....I am just on the north side of Portland (technically I am in Washington) and we have a very low rate of return waves as well. Seems like Harley riders are the worst.

Nomads look like Harley's from a distance to many people, so maybe that is why I don't get the return wave. Maybe it would help if I didn't put my middle finger up while waving? :-)

OK after reading the post here I conducted an informal survey riding in South Florida.
About 1-2 hours on the road. Passed 15 motorcycles, 13 waved back. Guess that's Southern Hospitality :)

Yup, us Yankees are the meanest people on the planet. You should have done away with us when you had the opportunity but that would have only left the Californians to make this country run fiscally. You should thank the people of the Northeast for all we do for this country. Someday it would be nice to have a president from here so we can get some roads repaired and cities rebuilt.

The Yankees don't wave because if they did they wouldn't have a hand on the bars since the other one is busy flipping people off

Well, I was going to ask if it was politically correct to change a two finger down to a one finger up/down if the harley rider doesn't wave back? Is that an okay thing?

Whats with you yankees?

Hey everyone. I'm home now from my trip. Was a great ride. FOund more wavers once I got off the main roads. Made some other comments and such on the thread Kawagirl started. Didnt realize what a nest my quick post would start. Its fun to see everyones opinions. I feel that most of us appear to be of the same thinking.

In SD it is an entirely different world. People here are very friendly for the most part. Unless you are on a motorcycle. I think it is because of sturgis. Nearly every HD that the dealers sell come with a HD leather jacket and a HD helmet and membership to their club. Oh yeah, they get free year membership to HOG owner group as well. I notice that if there are more than one or two of them together you generally dont get a response.

It irritates me even more. My hometown is 100 miles from where I currently live and used to be very friendly. Even people in cars would wave at bikes. They put up an HD dealer a year ago and it seems like the nose in the air went right along with it. I was home for a memorial run this weekend and was snubbed by people I used to consider good friends just because I paid $10,000 for a Nomad "when I could of bought a HD for that price."
