Besides, I'd have to carry my gun illegally in most of those NE states who don't recognize my AZ CCW permit.

I guess the country is just too big. No matter where the National is held somebody is going to find it too far for various reasons. On a different tact is it not fair that each regional group take a turn at hosting and sharing the massive work involved in pulling off a big rally? Seems to me if the problem of distance was solved by by holding the National dead smack in the middle of the country time after time, there would still be folks who found the distance to far, not to mention travelling in the same general direction time after time would get old fast.

At least you don't live at the end of the world like I do in south Florida.

It takes a minimum of 5 hours and 380, miles just to get out of my home state.

And that's just the shortest direction.

I caught a rival groups rally in Eureka Springs last year by flying in.

I'm caging up to the regional in a couple of weeks, just to catch the last day of the rally.

I'll probably fly into Albany and rent for the 2017 National.

It would be a minimum of 3 days each way on a bike, and that's IF the weather cooperates.

It would be great to be able to ride to every rally.

But sometimes it not about riding your bike there, but just being there to enjoy the comradery and be a part of it all.

With so many members on non Vulcans, it's not about the Vulcan Baggers for them.

Let's not lose sight of the real reason we attend rallys.

So quityerbitchin and go to the rallys that you can, whatever way you can get there.

There is a federal law that allows you to carry through the state if you travel on the interstate and only stop at rest stops and for fuel, no side trips or exploring.

Funny you should say that Mike. This year's regional will get me away from my in laws visit. They always start out the same, or at least one of them does. "So and so and I are coming for a visit, you going to be around?", next thing I know 10-12 of them have decided to come unannounced and land at my front door.
This year they plan a visit the same week as our rally. "Oh what a shame, we'll be away that week". I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop with a come back like" that's ok, can we still use your house?"

For me at least, getting there is half the fun. I've never been east of Tennessee, so I would love to ride through the other states to get there. I wish I could take the time to ride to NY, but I don't see it happening. Hell, I could drive my truck and make it there in 3-4 days, but that defeats the purpose as far as I'm concerned. Oh well.

I know I no longer ride a Vulcan, so my opinion doesn't count, but I would vote for holding the national somewhere like Missouri or Arkansas on a permanent basis. That ride is doable, and is centrally located.

what you said scott is exactly the way I feel about it.and no one has even mentioned the high cost envolved to take that much time away from work
and travel expenses.in my case it would be 3700 miles of interstate droning
plus 12 days of lodgeing, fuel cost, food and beverage and throw in a new set
of tires to boot.

I did at least touch on the cost in my previous post (25)
I realize that attending a rally is an expensive proposition.
Make it thousands of miles away and it's even more costly.
In my case NY is a 1500 mile trip to get there. Not as far as others but certainly not close.
Eureka Springs was 125 miles.

New England has a lot to offer and hopefully a location can be found soon.
With Tom, Tim and Norm all familiar with the area they should be able to help find a good location.

I know it isn't obvious yet, but we've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes looking to make this a great National, and should have information to share soon.

If you ever wanted to visit New England, this would be a great time. And for those of you who are used to taking a couple of days just to get from one side of your state to the other, the New England states just aren't that big. You can get across Rhode Island diagonally in a little over an hour and from New York across Vermont to the New Hampshire coast in about 4.

Not exactly. It those restrictive states, the gun must be locked up. It can't be carried on the person, so one would have to lock it up before going into a nanny state. I believe it has to be unloaded too and don't even get caught with unapproved ammo in jersey, like hollow points. You'll get locked up for that. The problem with FOPA is how a cop interprets it, if they even know it, so carry a copy. Also look at USA Carry website.
