I'm with you. I went with my wife's company a couple of years ago to the Casino north of your and my location (without giving the name). I was very depressed to see the number of seniors there, who I can imagine couldn't really afford it. The food was good and cheap, which is one of the hooks. To see so many sitting for hours in front of those (as my father called them) "One Armed Bandits" was depressing. I do know a few around here who go regularly, and they in all seriousness can not afford it, and always are practically BEGGING each month due to there SPENDING. I think people should treat them like entertainment centers. Take say 50.00 (what you'd spend for an evening out) and play with that. Once it's gone, you go home. If you win, take the 50.00 out and play with the rest if you wish, but then your playing with THERE money. But it's too much temptation for many especially if they win some money once. I personally just don't see the justification to put more casino's in this province or anywhere for that matter.

They don't take into consideration how much they spent to "win" that $50.

It seems to me to determine whether one has won or lost at gambling requires keeping-score over their lifetime... something no one does.

It would be my guess very few would come out ahead in the final calculation; but it can be fun to gamble sometimes.

Im sure those places don't get that extravegant by giving money away, some are just shear oppulence. They are a form of entertainment but when I go, I"ll be at the chinese buffet, waiting for my wife. That way I feel I get my money's worth out of the place.

I suppose so. We have casinos here, too. I've been to one of them 3 times in 12 years. Once to eat, the other two with my wife to see shows. I could live in Vegas and not gamble.

And yes, they are full of seniors here too, blowing their social security checks.

I was told a long time ago, Those casinos were not built because they have so many winners.

It's a rare occasion for me to be on the Strip. Pretty much avoid the area except for business. Occasional dinner and show but that's about it. I bet football at a local casino in Henderson.
