I don't see that Clearview offers a windscreen for the 1700 Nomad.

My bad. I don't see one listed on their site as well. Try contacting them to check. Possibly site not updated.

I emailed them. They responded saying they offered the 1700 Nomad windscreen in (4) different heights and 29" across (I have no idea how wide the stock 1700 windscreen is). I emailed him back and told him, if I bought 1 of his windscreens, I'd basically want the "full package". Taller (I'd have to see how tall), ~2" wider, 5 position vent and a recurve. I'll see if he replies tomorrow.

Something else I'm wondering about (and I might start a new thread so it gets seen). Are the 1600 and 1700 Nomad windscreens the same? The part numbers are almost identical but not quite. 39154-0326 for a '14 and 39154-0012 for an '08. FWIW, an '09 Nomad is 39154-0044. I would have thought all of the 1700 Nomads would have been the same. I'm only wondering if the 1600/1700 windscreens are the same because I could just order one for the 1600 and call it good.

Here is a pic of the small filler screen. Sorry it took so long.
It has a slot on each side and is fastened by the bottom screw

Thanks. I might have to buy 1 to see if it works. I never heard back from Clearview today so they must not want to sell me a windscreen very badly.

It would not be difficult to make a template from a piece of cardboard and tape it to the outside of the windshield to see if the filler piece would make a difference ?

Good point. I'll try that tomorrow and see if that helps.

Well, I've been dicking w/this most of the day. I raised the windscreen and taped off everything underneath (to the headlight and to the top of the large lowers). I tried adding and adjusting the little wind deflector I got off of Amazon, too. I get "better" wind control but still not great. Not sure what's going on but I'm half tempted to give up and buy one of these. https://theusatrailerstore.com/kawas...-1700-fairing/

I found the only answer to several issues I was having on my Yamaha V Star 1300 was to install a batwing. Buffeting and being blown around by high winds were my concerns. The batwing fixed both. Getting the right height of windshield for the batwing will be your next issue.

Memphis Shades batwing has the lower deflector wings that will help deflect the wind. I added a recurve windshield to mine.

Not trying to be a jerk here, but I also ride a Nomad and have stated several times I have zero buffeting even after my drop down panel shattered at speed and I did not replace it. I ride without helmet, I ride up to 100mph at times, and my wife also rides helmetless...we get wind in our hair but no buffeting, no turbulence, no migraines...the only difference that should exist is that Monkeyman is a few inches taller than me (I'm 5'10"). If height is the only real issue, then a taller screen should help if not fully correct the situation. It's a shame everyone feels the only solution here is to ruin the classic looks of a Nomad by strapping a big ugly dashboard to it or to sell it. Let's look at this logically...a 5'10" guy on the SAME bike has ZERO issues, and a 6ft+ guy does...maybe you need a taller shield or a better helmet, not a stereo and speakers...

Yeah. I wasn't planning on a fairing but if that's what keeps me on this bike, it's worth it. I'm wavering between getting a stripped down fairing and buying my own headunit, speakers, etc and buying 1 ready to mount, wire up and go. I could probably save a couple hundred bucks buying my own "stuff" but since riding season doesn't end around here, buying 1 I can wire up and mount means zero down time.

I don't think you're a jerk at all. I ran the windscreen all the way up and covered all the gaps and still had issues. I have (2) helmets (NC is a helmet state but I'm ATGATT so it doesn't matter). Both are pretty good lids. I don't know why I'm having issues. Maybe because I'm taller, maybe because I'm "wide", maybe I have just lost some tolerance to buffeting.

I don't necessarily need a stereo and speakers but I DO enjoy tunes. I get into my zone when I'm riding and listening to some good music. That's just me. To each, their own.

I've looked into a Memphis Shades batwing. I can keep the phone BT'ed to my SENA and be happy w/that. The only problem is that the MS is almost the same cost as a Reckless. Maybe the MS is just better quality but if I can get a stereo/speakers for about the same cost, I might as well, I suppose.
