HILLHOUSE said it right. Once the battery cover is off, you will see 5 loaded wire harnesses going down into the battery box on the left side. Carefully unclip them and move them to the side out of the way, then you lift the basket out of the battery box containing the electrical chassis relay (with the 3 plug arrangement) and the 2 plug ecu and bring it to your bench. It takes some grunt to remove the ecu out of the basket as it is held in tight and surrounded by rubber so be careful but that's all there is to it and leave the chassis relay in the basket then pad up the ecu in bubble wrap, box it up and send it to New York.

I do not know if the 02 sensor is connected to the ECU or not as mine is a 2102 1700. You can simply and confidently consult with Ivan over this on the phone and he will appily clarify for you what to do with the 02 sensor wire after his flash, and depending on what exhaust system you are running. It seems he mentioned something about the reprogramming of the ECU makes the sensor obsolete as you may not need it anymore. I would call him.

Well i just sent mine out. Good thing I am on vacation starting today and will off playing in the Warm Sun of Vegas and Arizona for a week. I won;t miss it to much. not sure when i am going to get to test it though when i get back as the long range weather is still not good for me in Ontario Canada.

Got my ECU back and installed yesterday.
1st think I noticed when restarting the bike was it wanted to idle at around 2k, did eventually come back down. Time will tell if this is a constant, As for performance all I can say is wow! now this motor has been woken up only did a short ride, 48 here yesterday.

Most all FI motors will run fast a few seconds after startup, including cars and trucks. The colder they are, the more they tend to run fast. My Voyager will sometimes run at 2k rpm for 2-3 seconds on a cold start. Common.

My engine surges up and down for a few minutes upon warm up as was told it would by Ivan and then like mentioned, settles down to about 7-800 rpm normal idling after reaching around 160-170.

we no longer have carbs n chokes to deal with---the ECM reads air and water temp + atmospheric press then decides what idle speed and fuel enrichment is needed for proper warm up of engine----when warm it should idle @ 900-1000 unless u have adjusted it with the switch---eng temp at 140---factory setting is 950----when I put the dobec tfi on mine the fast idle was not as smooth but not a big change -- tfi is gone now no need for it --- if anyone wants one u can have it cheap + shipping

This faster idle and surging while warming up is normal and happens without Ivan's mod. I think maybe those mentioning it are just paying more attention now that they have the mod....looking for changes perhaps.

Well of course it idles up after you crank a fuel injected engine, what we were talking about is that at first it surges up, then drops back down, surges up, drops back down . It does it about 3 or 4 times before it drops back to normal.

Difference between pre & post Ivan's enhancement is pre it would idle high then drop down after 30 sec or so. Now it stays at high idle until engine temp gauge starts moving, also little slow dropping back to 950 if you hold throttle open then fully closing.
Temps in my area are in the 50's yesterday and today, which may have an effect due to ECU adjusting idle so it runs in cooler temp.. I don't think it's an issue but was just pointing out what I experienced. This is by far the BEST enhancement to add to your ride by far. Exhaust sound is different in a good way. Now it sounds consistent through the range, nice and smooth. Hard to explain but more like a tuned motor should.
