Which bike 1500 or 1600?

If it's a 1600 there are a lot of 205/60 tires available for under $100.00 lie the General Altimax.

Is your safety worth a couple of dollars? But then maybe it will be ok.

I have an 07 1600 Nomad. I have read where the 205/60 is really tight fit if it would fit without any cutting I would run it. General Altimax is a good looking tire. Have you run it?

Not on mine as it is a 1500, but I know of a few who run it on the 1600s.

The 215 will work on a 1600, but it is tight.

I've been running a 205/60 for two years. There is a 3mm clearance between the tube and the tire. If you happen to choose this size tire, torque your axle first then the gear drive next. Otherwise, you could likely bend your drive shaft tube into your tire.

A frightening well learned lesson for Kawhead.

What company makes this tire? How much did you pay and where did you buy it?

On how much i just want to know what the retail cost of the tire is, nothing on mounting or labor.

I was reading in the manual about how to remove rear tire. What are you talking about when you say gear drive.
Do you half to pull the gear drive to get tire in.

I am not sure if you have to pull anything to get the rear wheel off, or to say what is the least amount of work to remove just enough to get the rear wheel off.

There is such a thing as a swing arm service which should be done about every 8,000 miles need it or not and that includes greasing the drive shaft, splines and all other splines plus all bearings like the top shock bearings, swing arm bearings, and to check that U joint, of which about 1/2 are bad well before any 8,000 miles due to a defect at the factory.
I know the book for the 1600 has another mile figure but the 1500 was the correct book and that is just normal industry specs at 8,000 miles.

Even the compound rear wheel need a service with grease on it's spline.

Just changing a rear tire is 1/2 way to the rest of the job and not doing this job is going to get somebody killed one of these days with used bikes never getting the service and on tire 4 to 6!

Besides that the factory rubber boot is made of a bad rubber and is probably breaking up, So that along with 2 swing arm seals a cotter pin and etc besides a tire and probably exhaust gaskets should be replaced.

I get yelled at for saying things like this, but i just can't ride wondering if that drive shaft is going to seize up like a brick and slam the rear tire dead stopped. That will wreck the tranny and clutch too, but the rider won't care because he will be DEAD.

I'm considering putting a 195/60/16 Bridgestone Touranza tire on my wife's 2004 nomad is there any clearance problems with that size tire on the 1500's?
Could you please tell me what model you are running as I did not realize that there was more than one model of this tire until I did a search this is the tire I was looking at: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/tir...84780&pc=25772
I also see there is a run flat tire any help would be greatly appreciated.
