One pleasant surprise in the saddlebag was the small but serviceable toolkit. You can't rebuild by the side of the road, but there is enough there to do the odd adjustment. Finally, a Harley with toolkit!
That's from a 2001 article. So "you people" rides with HDs and, from time to time, helps friends by working on their Harleys. Both I and some others out there have run across Harley owners that could confirm their ride came without a toolkit. An ongoing joke in the group I ride with is, Dave, aka Hammer carries both Metric and SAE tools for that reason and sometimes knows what to do with them. Hence the question. This member of "you people" does not care what you ride and I am too old for peer pressure either given or received. I actually really do love CJ's choice because it's his choice and he chose a great ride. Some 4 months ago, a friend offered a very low mileage Road Glide if and when it became available so that could be my next ride. That's my personal choice of best Harley for me. Is that the "you people" you were referring too Dave?

I noticed something interesting the other day when I swapped out the stock shield for the new tinted one. The stock shield has 3 torx head screws holding it on. I was also adding the chrome windshield trim, which comes with longer, chrome plated, hex button head screws.
The fasteners were both METRIC! That's right. 6mm screws! I think HD uses torx head fasteners because there is no SAE or metric torx, it's universal - and that keeps it a secret from some who would rather see their sister in a wh***house than ride a bike with metric nuts and bolts. Just an observation.

Guess you don't have to throw away your metric tools then!

CJ, I have the WideOpenCustom fairing and I have often wondered if the stock HD shield would fit. Could you measure the shield at the top of the fairing for width and where the attachment holes fit?
I get a good discount at the local HD shop and would like to try a lower tinted shield. How do you find the parking lot handling on the new 2011 Ultra compared to the Nomad?

Low speed handling is much better than the nomad. Even though it's nearly 900 pounds it seems much smaller.

CJ, wanted to offer my condolences on your old bike, and glad you're all healed up and back on the road. That is a gorgeous HD. Sounds like you're enjoying it, and rightly so.
Your wife needs to get you a gremlin bell so this doesn't happen again. :) Now that I've read all 36 pages, I need to go see my therapist.. ya'll are nuts..
