I have always gone by this quote from the BTK site for the 1500/1600:

"You don't WANT lope at idle on these engines. Spec idle is 950 +/- 50. Lower than 900 RPM and you are not getting adequate oil pressure to the camshafts"

the dyno guy set mine to 1050 for a warmed up idle
