Well I'm glad Doc didn't ask the question about "rubber pointy things" in here then ;)

Final Drive Oil

It's a good thing Nico doesn't come in here too often. All of macmac's comments about tranny's would get him a little too excited.

From the beginning of my participation in this site, the gear heads have always referred to the final drive as just that, so talking about gearboxes is a bit confusing.

I have the devils own time with words.. 3 letter acronyms just kill me... I just about talk backwards being yankkee n' all... That word nacell is a killer, and to me it is a bezel. I don't type looking in the book, but at times will refer to it, and it has all sorts of words the kawwii folks made up, which have other mechanics names which are in common use thru out the trade.

I spent a long time under cars made in Europe, so long that once I used English terms more than I did American terms.. I still have British Std tools in Snap On.. Some of my training came from a real English mechanic, who had apprinticed in England 7 years to earn the right to be a master mechanic. This is something that was never done in the USA and if you ask me it shows..

SO my speaking skills are definately lacking, and so is my text.. I figure you guys have a good time off me at my own expence too.. If I didn't have long hair and beard you would call me a red neck, and if I wasn't armed you would call me the last hippy..

I might be pretty different, but i ride in the same wind .... And I see NICO.. He is over with me on a Dark Sider board.. It seems some of my pics somehow got in his web page, but I can't figure how. It might be fair to say he is excited... LOL

Mac, I don't recall anybody here saying "Propshaft" instead of "driveshaft", but of course you been there, done that, and got the t-shirt too.

I know I've packed a gland more than once, but it warn't on no Nad.

Also, I knew what you meant by "Punkin" too, though it is more of a cantaloupe in my book.

I just want to know about the word you and mac have encoded "punkin". Does it go back many years? Or were you too young and your folks said you can't elope ?

Cadd's gland is packed
He's ready to go
He's standing here
Outside your door....

He's leavin' on a jet plane
don't know when he'll be back again....

The work "punkin" comes from this ancient rhyme:

When the weather's hot and sticky,
That's no time for dunkin' Dickie.
Ahhh...But when the frost is on the punkin,
THAT'S the time for Dickie dunkin'!

I'm not the one who broached that subject.
