Did about a 65 mile today, trip was right at130miles and the light was on, figured I could easily do another 30 miles then fill up. Wrong, 5 miles down the road at 60 MPH it stalled off and on I nursed it home, put in1.5 gallons and ran to the station, only took 2 gallons. I don't get it. After I filled it, ran fifty miles and all was fine. I'm thinking bad gas caused the initial stall. Weird day.

After putting Commander IIs on my bike. My mileage dropped like crazy. Could get 175 miles on 4.5 gallons. Now I can go 130 - 135 miles on 3.5 gallons. Not sure what has happened. Not very happy with my mileage. Anyone have an idea what could be. Drive normal to 5 + over speed limit. Most of my driving is at 55, 70 mph. Not much stop in go. Tire pressure is right on.

My mileage didn't jump but it sure as hell ran better! ;) Now, if you can adjust it out you should get your mileage back unless your running superlean. I tried it, but I was very careful on the throttle, I got to almost 45 MPG, but you could roast marshmellows off the heat shields.
These bikes were tuned really lean from the factory and worked reasonably well with their emissions systems intact.
Just to verify it, I would just unplug it, and try it again. Did anything else change, just added the power commander? New tires? Brakes?
Do you have any drag? Clutch it while at 70 and see if somethings dragging, then do it again at 45....
I just installed a recurve long ride shield on my fairing....it has alot of drag....but I'm more comfortable

I have new Commander ll tires and have not seen a change in mileage and that's after a good long road trip. What does tire pressure right on mean?

I am running 42/39

Only thing that changed on the bike was the tires. The tires changed from Front down to 130 from 150, Back was 170 up to 180 size. That should not have changed my mileage. Otherwise, same bike. No other mods were done to the bike. Will try to see if the clutch is dragging. Will try that on the way home this evening.

I checked the clutch at 45, 70 and did not feel any drag. I had to stop for gas on the way home. Had to put in 4 gallons of gas to mileage of 135 miles. Down even more. Down to 33 miles per gallon. Not getting any better.

That's what I found on my last trip. I leaned it out some on my TFI and it did run hotter. I would rather trade off a few miles per gallon to avoid that. My mixed travel runs now average about 39 and I am good with that.

Same here Hammer....My bike seems happy at the settings I have, and yellow seems to come on about 125 to 135, just normal riding, no babying, just riding as one would, cruising 70-80, passing slower vehicles, etc
Every once-in-a-while I'll get a tankful that will only get my about 70 miles before the light comes on.
The stations have the tanks in the ground get bad mixes, water gets in when it rains, also ethanol absorbs water like crazy.
I always carry octane booster and seafoam....

I rode out to the Washington's Ocean Shores last Friday and was very pleased to see that I got just over 44 mpg, the best I've had.
