When I lived in Ankeny Iowa in the late 1980's our club (the Mid-Iowa Road Riders) and Zook's HD put on a "zero degree" run and chili feed every new years day. How ever many degrees it was above or below Zero (F) was how many miles the ride was. NY day 1989 it was -19 degree (F) when we started the run (31 bikes) and winds were a steady 35-45 MPH out of west. Wind Chill was -56 (F) at 1PM when we were inside Zooks eating chilli after the run and temps fell thru out the day. Left my bike there for 6 days until temps got above freezing so I could ride it home.
I will never forget that and I will never do it again!!!

16 F was the lowest. Started a ride to AL from here in sunny, warm Florida at 16 F! No heated anything on that ride either.

I took my coldest ride last winter. Left the house and it was 26*F. There were 5 of us that rode about 80 miles for lunch and then back home. High temp was 32*F and that didn't happen until I got back home.

I left home to go to a meeting at work on a Saturday morn. Weather man said
possible rain then clearing, I took the MC because I felt like I hadn't ridden it enough. Put the rain gear on and went on my way. About 20 miles later (and riding in the rain for about 10 miles) I encountered wicked cold chills. Then it started to snow, and it snowed and it snowed. I was riding in the tracks of the cars in front of me. Everyone is driving slow as it is slippery. Once in awhile a car would pass me, and the look on their faces was priceless. I'll bet the look on my face was beyond that. Anyway 65 miles later I am coated with a sheet of ice, the bike was unrecognizable. The boss says I'm surprised you came, this wasn't a mandatory meeting..?!!!??? Anyway the ride home wasn't any better. The temperature not sure, did it matter that day? NO! It was still cold and miserable.

Cold I can get over. Ice and snow, not so much. I don't care what meeting the boss has planned, if I have to ride my bike and there's ANY chance of ice or snow, I'm calling off. Brave man, you are.

Definitely BRAVE!
As Monkeyman says if there was even a chance of ice or snow then the bike stays in the garage!

A couple years ago I had to run down to Niagara Falls, about 120 mile ride, it started snowing after about 40 minutes into the trip and you could hardly see the road, good thing it wasn't cold enough on the ground, so it was melting as it fell. But on the trip him later that night I rode through about 4" the last 12 miles or so. Not the most fun Ive ever had.

Holy C**P! I just could not face that! I nearly freaked when I had to take my Nomad onto the St.John/Digby ferry in Sept as the deck was so slippy you could hardly stand up on it with oil and sea water! Of course being very hung over and it being 6.30am didn't help

I never rode in any cold weather. Now work is another story,0ne January on the Labrador Sea the wind chill was-77oC for several days. You couldn't go out on deck unless all skin was completely covered. I hate the north Atlantic in the winter!
