Texting while driving

Geeze weapons now is it? As a lad I used to carry odd things. like a 36 inch 3/8 drive ratchet extention, ball peen hammers, and steel ball bearings.

The bearings did the best dirty work, but are no longer an image i would like to present, and so today i carry at least 1 gun..

For lesser sins I sometimes had a hot coke not open, and just ready to bust on the road. What a nasty mess that makes!

I wouldn't use any of that on a bet these days, as i expect every one else also has a gun.. They do don't they?

Mac: You even get a signal out there?
Dougster: You got that right! This is another "Freedom" or "Right" we can do without, and nobody will die or get hurt without DWT (Driving While Texting, maybe that'll be like a DWI or DUI one day), and it may actually save a bunch of lives.. I've heard on two separate occasions that two different teens were walking across trains tracks and actually got ran over by trains while texting. Like I said, they're like zombies when they are glued to their phone. Technology is moving too fast. We got more technology in a simple calculator than we had when we landed on the Moon. And look what we got now, only 40 years later. Jamie

A signal? I think so, cell phones sort of work in places. Not sure if that counts texting though. My wife has a cell phone that works if she don't move one g*d**ned inch

One wrong move and it gives it up and all I ever hear is guppy sounds.. Takes me right back to Donovans songs about under the Ocean something.

I like my idea best. You place the dammed gizmo on the anvil and give it real good wack with a 6 pound sledge, and then you sweep up the parts and put them on the tree come christmass..

I don't like the towers. They put up tower to look like trees, a sequioa here in New Hampster don't look quite right if ya know what I am sayin'... but never the less they got branches and needles made out of some green junk to 'blend' em in with some fools idea of what the woods should look like.

I'ld like to find that fool and show him what poision ivy looks like too.

In just a few more years we will have the cell phone/pda/computer embedded in our bodies. We will wear glasses that will project the screen in front of us like a "heads-up-display." It will be operated by sub-vocal commands.

Think I'm kidding? They already have cell phones embedded in peoples arms in Japan.

If I do that my opinion will be to suggest they themselves drive and text at the same times. Somehow I don't believe they will be exempt from what happens next...

Stick won't stop them. I watched a guy in a truck pull out onto the highway in front of me, talking on the phone with his right hand, reached across and shifted with his left hand. It was a propane truck. I called his boss.

Texting while driving

On the news the other day a guy got busted for aggresive driving (not the right term as I can't remember the correct term). Apparently some woman was texting and the story goes that a male was really pissed at a woman texting. He cut her off and punched her after she stopped.

Only got the end of the story but he's facing charges.

Texting while driving should be outlawed in all states.

Well punching women should probably be legal since they are equal in all...

back in the day mid 70's I held a door for a young femanatzi, and she kicked me in the shins.

I wacked her once, she dropped and I let the self closing door close on her head. I mumbled tha'rs friggin equal honey howdja' like that?

While I am not sure what this texting is yet, I already know i don't like fools on the dammned phone driving...

My favorite is to play on people's fear of looking stupid. Ya know, when someone isn't paying attention at a light and when it turns green someone honks. I have a loud horn on my nomad. I like to follow people that I see texting until we get to a red light. That way someday I will get lucky and they won't be paying attention to the color of the light and I will honk while it is still red just to try and get them to jump on the gas thinking it turned green. ANd BAM right into the back of another car. Then I will wait and tell the cop that I could plainly see her texting and when I accidentally bumped my horn while moving to use my blinker (totally believable on a bike) she must have gotten startled.

Oh, even though it is wrong on so many levels, I would almost pay to see that on video.

As sad as it is, having a law making it illegal to text and drive would only overwhelm a system that is already overwhelmed. What they should do is pull them over, and confiscate the phone. You have to go to the station, pay $20 or so to get your phone back. Consider it an item used in the commission of a crime. I know not much of a crime, but it could get someone killed. I also think that if you are involved in an accident, that your cell phone records should be required by the state. If the records show that you where on the phone at the time of the accident, that you are automatically responsible for the accident.

I remember a day when we didn't have cell phones. We got along just fine without them then, and we could do just fine without them while we are driving. I tell my kids, if I EVER catch you on the phone while you are driving, I will make you drive over your own phone with the car, and you will not get another one. It is not worth it.

T-Mobile is one company that offers total and complete control over any phone on your account. You can set limits, and times when the phone can be used. You can even turn a phone off completely, or set it so it can only be used to call certain numbers, all available over the internet. I use it on my daughters phone after I found out she had over 10,000 texts in one month. She didn't like the fact that I was monitoring her cell phone so I just turned it off. One mouse click is all it took. She changed her tune real quick after that.

They should also have an option on new phones that uses motion detectors or even GPS that does not allow the phone to be used when in motion greater than say walking speed. Now I know this may be much, but we need to start somewhere. A teen, texting while driving? You might as well start picking out the headstone now. And if you are a parent, and you allow it, well, I reserve my comments on that one.

the car companies could solve this issue but it ain't cheap. those in IT will understand the power of copper.

You put a copper mesh cage around the cabin of the car and whammo, NO SIGNAL.
