I decided on Rinehart because the V&H mufflers are a little too loud for me. Nice tone....just a little too loud.
Harleys are V&H's bread and butter. They sell a lot of systems to Harley owners and aren't about to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. Truth is, they probably couldn't care less about systems they sell for obsolete platforms.

Welcome to the V&H broken headpipe club! I bought a complete new set as the rear pipe was 8 week delivery to Canada! New set the pipe wall is thicker! I don't think there was anyway to stop the thinwall pipes not to fail at some point! I have no real faith in the new set - time will tell! I have this set set up with as little pressure points as possible! Good luck making a decision on which way to go! By the way, welding didn't last on the first set as the metal was way fatigued!

Didn't you get that memo? They haven't made the 1600 for 5 years.

Out of production would be the politically correct term.
They haven't made another Cactus Jack for 50+ years, are you obsolete?

ob·so·lete

Adjective
No longer produced or used; out of date.

You can call it whatever you like, Norm.

If you don't ride much, or are not planning on keeping the bike more than 3-4 years I doubt you will ever have a problem.

Have seen them shipped for $512 or close to that.
But Reinharts ? I'd do that.
So would I, but you heard me dreaming

I should have measured them! But I was in a hurry to leave on a trip. l did notice that they were way heavier than the old set! They broke first @ 30 km. then again @ 72 km. first weld job included strips welded lenght wise along pipe for strenght. They just broke further down the pipe!

30 and 72 km or 30,000 and 72,000 km? I'd find it hard to believe they'd break after 18 miles.

If i can fix this and buy time I will buy another pipe if i can or friggin make one. Right now i want my season.

Breaking lower than what was added isn't what i wanted to hear. But it would be easier to fix in a straight section.

You are NOT saying the thicker set broke as well are you?

You bet.... But I don't want that back on either, unless I build a Y set up. I forget what that was called. some X by pass. I could make that but not right now.
