The Hercules had softer side walls than the Vanco-8 but I loved that tire too. These are both listed as van/light truck tires. The Hercules is the one I had put two plugs in after a rally in Arkansas and to the Blackhills so I replace it when I got back. Of course I could not find either one but managed to find a Continental Vanco-8 195/65R16 on ebay, which had a stiffer side wall like the first Vanco 8 I had....as a matter of fact that is what is on the 2004 Nomad. The 2000Nomad has the Hankook Optimo 195/60R16 which is a car tire with soft walls. The other 185 I found was Nokian cLine Cargo 185/75 R16C . This tire WAS NOT going to fit my bike. It ended uo being tooo tall and there was no way it was going to fit. It ended up going to Bud( Idahojack) thinking it would fit his 1600 since the swingarm on the 1600 his better than the 1500 but it would not fit his either. As far as I know he still has it sitting at his home. MPH wise with the 185's I was within a mile or 2 on my speedo when comparing it to my GPS

This what I use to find info on the tire sizes:

The 185/75 you might as well put it out of your mind because the only one you can find around is the Nokian cLine Cargo 185/75 R16C . and like I mentioned above, it will NOT fit in the swingarm. Your best bet at the moment is the 195/60r16 since those can be found....the 195/65 like MAS mentioned are hard to find now too.
Swingarm clearance is not the only issue. Be sure the tire tread width is not
Wider than the rim width. If the tire tread is wider than the rim you will experience side to side tire roll. To over come the roll you have to over inflate the tire.
I've had this experience this and almost lost my bike into a guardrail in a curve on the freeway.

The first tire I put on had the shimmy in the rear in grooved roads. Found out the swingarm had a play in it. Put metal shims on it and no more shimmy. Did the same on the second bike too to get rid of the play.
