My only problem with using my phone is that the phone gps is only as good as your cell coverage. Mine works great in town but I just got back from a 4300 mile trip across 12 states and there's a lot of area without service. Those are the places I needed the gps for assistance and I was sol. My dedicated gps will be back on the bike asap.

Seems to be the best option if possible, going through the mountains and lots of other places I found the same to be true. Not to mention the roaming charges for the phone when I'm riding state side. I've got a Garmin Zumo 390 and when I leave the Vaq. it gets locked away, I'd hate to have to shell out more cash to buy another one ... since I couldn't even afford the first one . Cheers. I used to use a Garmin Zumo 600 on my bike. It worked real well and is the model used for motorcycles. Water resistant; although it will not take a total downpour.

I believe the new number is 665 now. Not certain.

I like this new model. I wonder if the motorcycle mount and pin-out is the same as the 660's

I have Garmin 660 that I use on both my HD's and now my Kawi. I ordered a bunch of Ram Mount stuff to mount it to the handle bars and it works great.

I would never use my phone GPS on a motorcycle as it doesn't have the functions my 660 has.

Yes an no. I have ridden in some major downpours and did have some issues with connection to the cradle. I have never put a plastic bag over mine.

The home button - never put your home address in. Either put your neighbors addy or a place a mile way!

Greetings Skullbagger,
Like many others, Garmin Nuvi (65LM and 2557LM) on the bikes. These are "car" GPS', so carry a zip lock baggie if weather turns bad. Sun can wash them a little when it is at the right angle behind you...
Mapping, planning, storing and calling up routes with BaseCamp then transferring to the units makes life easy.
Hope that helps.

Ride safe,
Smokier
